  • We have been Sky customers for a long time (just TV not phone) but have been waiting to move house for last 10 months so not been with them for past 11 months.

At time of leaving they said we'll offer you a good deal to come back.....I rang both BT & Sky last weekend and neither came up with much to keep or win back our business.

Might have to try again - any thoughts?
  • Anyone had any luck with HD discounts? I asked how much it would be to upgrade to HD for the sports channels and they said I needed to upgrade to a Family package (more unwanted channels) and then pay an extra £5 on top of that to get sports in HD. I'm sure this is a new thing? I said no, and they weren't prepared to negotiate.

BF rang up and cancelled - we had variety plus sport, totalling £57.50 per month. Best discount they could do would £10 off for 3 months so went ahead with cancellation. After about 2 weeks I logged onto MY Sky and found 50% discount available for us to go back, when speaking to advisor on Chat, got a further 10% discount, plus when it was going through another £1 was knocked off, taking our monthly bill down to £21.50, giving us a saving of over £400 over 12 months. Not bad when you're saving for a wedding!!
I'm going home right now to do the same for my parents - they're paying £37, interesting to see what they will get

Sky know that their service is a luxury which customers can do without, so will bend over backwards with offers for those who actually put through cancellation requests.

.....or, perhaps, if enuf of us jump on the discount bandwagon, they will be forced to stop paying those obscene amounts for footy and indirectly supporting the ever more obscene wages of very average foreign footballers !:) ...or is it all a dream:rotfl:

I've had similar success. Asked to cancel, got offered 35% off Family with Movies in HD and Multiscreen. Went ahead with cancellation, same day got the offer of 50% off on My Sky. Started a live chat, got offered a 12 month contract, I refused, got offered 50% rolling contract, still refused even they told me this was an amazing offer and was the very best they could do for me. Then, magically, her 'boss' approved 60% plus £25 bill credit. I'm very happy with this - gone down from £68 per month to £32.07 per month for the next 12 months.
  • I have just been on the phone to Sky, I have tv, phone and broadband with them and have been a customer for over 7 years. The best they could offer me was £10 off my £54 monthly bill for 10 months only. Doesn't sound much to me! I mentioned I had priced up talk talk, BT etc, but it didn't make any difference. She also said that once I decided to cancel, I couldn't retract this?!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.....

Rubbish - you can retract it anytime up to switch off.

Cancelling just the TV part is easier - once you get an offer then negotiate the phone/BB too.

  • Has anyone received notification of this increase yet? Just seen this on their website after hearing the new £17.40 line rental figure on their radio ads.

We have anytime calls with Sky Talk and it looks like this is set to increase too - anyone know by how much (because Sky didn't over live chat)?
