Yes this is the second time in six months TalkTalk have raised their prices - last time i wasn't even informed - which they admit to and are now offering me credit for on my next bill. TBH I've had enough of them - I don't even use the landline or the TV package!

A switch to SSE phone and broadband would seem like the best option for me - £12.00 pcm.

However tell me is it hard to cancel the contract with TalkTalk given that they have now raised their prices? I have about 5-6 months left on my 18 month contract!

When are these emails/letters being sent? I've not received one yet.

You can cancel ,but if in a minimum term contract (which appears to be the case) you will have to pay a fee, unless the price rise is over 10% (I believe is the figure).

All providers seem to have regular price increases (except the much mourned O2 broadband).

I received an email yesterday about the price increase.

I rang TalkTalk this morning to give my 30 days notice and got the following offer by agreeing to a new 12 month contract:

    12 months free Simply Broadband
    £50 credit to my account
    Cashback earned
    Quidco : £858 :)
    Pigsback : £20 and a Beatles CD.

See the MSE news article - it suggests you can cancel without penalty :

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/broadband/2015/04/major-price-hikes-coming-for-talktalk-broadband-tv-and-home-phone-customers?_ga=1.55963310.428885505.1430552846
However, the provider confirms that customers within their minimum contract period – usually 18 months – can leave penalty-free as long as they get in touch to cancel within 30 days of receiving the price increase notice.

I'll be suggesting my dad does the same, and joins me at SSE (via topcashback)

I'm not sure where the 10% figure has come from, but as they are increasing their prices you are definitely free to leave without penalty part way through the contract. This has been confirmed in the TT forums by staff members.

Anyone else get an email with another price rise. This is the third in 2 years for me. How can they just change their prices whenever they want? If I complain will ī get anywhere? May have to change my provider I guess

Because it's not a fixed price contract.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Technically no notice is required to move from TalkTalk to a new ISP, but your phone call was profitable nonetheless!

Like pmduk (post 40) I have yet to receive any notification of price rises... are we in the minority, or is this common? I'd rather know 'officially', as it were, so I have some form of proof should I wish to move on to another provider within the accepted time limit. Contacting them first doesn't seem advisable.

TalkTalk bill oddly. Essentially, your price will rise on any one of 30 days in June, depending on your billing date. So the price does not rise globally for all customers on 1 June, and customers will be notified of the price increase on or around their billing date in May.
