I did ask in my email though how they go about verifying the high number of suspiciously positive reviews that have suddenly appeared but got no answer - perhaps we should all be reporting these to the teams for verification rather than sitting back and complaining about them?
I've tried that in the past. I haven't reported some of the dubious-looking ones as that's pure speculation, but a couple were total spam unrelated to the company, products or service - one was just a string of random characters - and I reported those. One was actually talking about a totally different company presumably in error. I reported that too. Unfortuntely when a regular user reports they don't immediately censor and then investigate, as they do when a company reports something. So the ones I've flagged are still there. It's a bit of a farce. They do have to be able to verify reviews otherwise people who are upset with the service could easily leave multiple negative reviews which would be unfair.
As far as I'm aware, you can't post more than one review for a company even if you've made multiple purchases, you can only update an old review for your subsequent experience. There are other reasons why they would need verified purchase but that's not one of them. I am also rather surprised that TP state that if a company signs up to receive feedback from customers, they have to invite EVERY customer to feed back - don't know about everyone else, but I didn't get a feedback request for MD. When you click through the feedback link (if sent one) it automatically registers that as a verified purchase, or at least that's what I've experienced with other companies in the past. For some reason this MD deal isn't showing as an actual purchase (even though those weird prize draw ones are!!) which I think is why people are also struggling to provide evidence of it to TP - there's no actual invoice! I did bring this up with MD shortly after purchasing the deal and before all of this mess, because I was concerned that I didn't have a proper confirmation. At that point they were still answering emails and told me not to worry about it and that my voucher would be sent out on 15th May. It was only a few weeks later that they told me they were cancelling my deal.
I don't actually want a refund, I want them to honour my deal as I did not breach and Ts & Cs. But I don't see it happening. In fact at this stage I'd be happy with just an honest reply to my tickets.0 -

While that's true, I have access to 2 Facebook accounts within my household, and if I were so inclined I could probably access many more by requesting that friends post on my behalf.
There has to be a mechanism to verify reviews as one annoyed person could potentially post 50+ if not more negative reviews if they really wanted to.
I have just reported several of the obviously spam looking positive reviews - the ones that contain no words, just jibberish, and all of the iPhone comp ones. On the latter my reason for reporting was "Positive review because they are hoping it improves their chances of winning in a competition. Does not relate to a purchase." Perhaps it will work, perhaps it won't, but I feel a bit better for doing it :rotfl:
P.S. I don't want a refund either. I want the voucher I paid for. But right now I'd just be happy to get anything at all!0 -
SeduLOUs I do agree and do understand that verification is important. I didn't mean for it to sound like I think it's unnecessary/wrong. The internet is full of people going out of their way to publicly drag companies down based on single bad experiences and that does need to be prevented. It's just a shame that MD are able to so easily abuse this system. It's also a shame that as far as TP are concerned where the company is involved it's "remove first, ask questions later" but where a user is involved it's "keep it there and we may or may not ever bother doing something about it".0

Ugh... having been told I couldn't receive the deal because I "unsubscribed" and still being bombarded with subscription emails, I have now also started receiving emails from MD's parent company, moneyexpert.com. Anyone else? Is this just an unlucky coincidence or does signing up for an account with MD result in getting emails from moneyexpert too?0

Finally
Bought 21 April, "redeemed" 18 May and yesterday 4 June I finally received my voucher. I spent it today to make sure it was valid.
I hope you all get a resolution0 -
