I just E-mailed Mighty Deals and they sent an automated message saying they are outside the 48 hour response time due to an exceptionally high number of enquiries! I wonder why that may be???!!! I will follow with interest other folks feedback.

Hmm... Just back from Tesco Extra, St Neots and guess what? 2 gift cards not accepted. Manager has not heard of the offers and they are not accepting them.

The manager almost certainly wouldn't be aware of the offer, because it's MD's offer not Tesco's, but that's nothing to worry about. It might be OK for you - contact Mighty Deals (although expect a very slow response, it's taking them a long time to get back to anybody with all of this going on) and tell them your gift card isn't working. I think you should be able to check the gift card balance online to see if that's the problem without going to a store. I have very little faith in MD but I have seen in the past they have rectified it when customers have not had credit loaded onto gift cards correctly. Of course it would be too much to hope that they'd just get it right in the first place...!

On another note, I contacted TopCashBack with an account of what has happened and asked if they would consider removing Mighty Deals from their site given these problems. TCB basically said sorry this has happened, we'll pass it on to the relevant people but at this stage can't guarantee what action will be taken. I feel that if lots of us contact TCB they might realise how significant this issue is and remove MD from their afilliated merchants?

Have also contacted TrustPilot to let them know I think their system is being abused in this instance and I hope they will be able to do something about it but not holding my breath on that one.

I would hope that would be blindingly obvious to them.

You just need to look at the review page for mightydeals with every other review having been censored to see something obviously fishy is going on.

Even if their overall score is still high, the page itself should be acting as a decent deterrent to any new customers looking into them at the moment.

I already tried that last week:
I strongly feel Top Cashback should review the situation and their promotion of Mighty Deals offers.

and response didn't seem to get the point of my request:

Unfortunately if Might Deals have in error cancelled the deal this is something we have no control over and not something we would be able to assist in here.

Please be assured we are aware of the situation and have certainly been in contact with the network that host's this merchant, however we would not be able to assist any further here as this is not in our control.

I didn't ask them to assist, but merely, like upstaged, asked that they re-consider their association with and promotion of the Merchant in question.

As it fell on apparently deaf ears, I then left a review about the poor experience at http://www.topcashback.co.uk/mighty-deals/reviews/1 . You have to use the drop down box to see the reviews in order of 'newest first'. Anyhow, despite ensuring the review complied with TCB's terms and conditions, on checking this today, I can see upstaged's recent review, but cannot see mine of last week, so am wondering if some are being removed from there too.

It was in the terms and conditions originally, but when I checked as I had applied for 2 and only received 1, I had trouble finding it, so I can understand how it was missed. Indeed it may have "disappeared" some of the time. I did get 2 gift cards and tomorrow, fingers crossed, I will see if I can redeem them. The whole process of anything to do with Mighty Deals is challenging and the good prices are let down by the high postage costs which are a deal breaker for me.

The original terms and conditions only stated 1 per customer. Nothing was mentioned about maximum of 2 per household. They inserted that term days into the deal. Here are the original terms:

My gift card has a zero balance too, as I found out today at Tesco after several staff members tried to get it to work.

What a shambles; will not be using MD again.

A friend went to use her card today and it also had zero balance, despite it showing £10 when she checked it online after receiving it.

Didn't use PayPal so we are still waiting for our two refunds despite it being 10 days since their refund email "Please allow 5 to 7 days for your refund to clear."

And if you do a chargeback, because of the small value they will pay it out rather than claim it back from Mightydeals because it will cost them more to investigate than just pay out.

So Mightydeals will get to keep the money
  • In short I've waited since 22 April
Link finally arrived but had issues getting my voucher using the security code
Finally managed to be sent PDF of voucher and printed it
Got paid went into my local Tesco express armed with a heavy basket total cost £21.03 to find voucher scanned but it showed £0.00 redemption
    Cashier tried several times
Manager came told me to call number on voucher spoke to Kyle at Tesco who said they'd experienced a lot of issues and he had an email address we had to contact as they didn't provide voucher
May I add I am waiting surgical assessment in my back and thus caused massive strain waiting only to have to put 90% of my much needed items back never mind the embarrassment
I have purchased once before an ECARD from mighty desks and never had an issue however this has been a total fiasco from start to finish
I'd like you to either send me a new voucher ready to use (this whole event has taken in excess of a month and an hour of my time today). Or refund me £5 paid and £5 compensation so at least I can complete my shop immediately
I am far from impressed and will also be contacting Martin Lewis from money expert in regard to this sham
  • Thought I'd just check hubby's voucher again using the online checker before trying to use it instore over the weekend and despite it saying it had £10 on it when he received it, it now stated the information I was entering was invalid, which I thought was odd. I also have a voucher which said the same thing from the start. I was checking the codes using my iPad , so thought I'd check on the laptop, where I had originally checked hubby's, and low and behold, they both show £10 on them, so i just used them both on Tesco Direct with no problems, I still didn't want to risk trying to use then instore.

Maybe something to check if you're checking your balances on a tablet.
