All I can say is WOW, just WOW to all your adventures!

I have done all the long hauls I want now and glad I did them when I was a bit younger!

Short (4-5 hour max) haul is the only way now. (But never say never either right!)

So early March flew to Malaga and did Seville, Cordoba, and Granada, OMG it was amazing, and quiet enough so we got to see everything with ease. Weather was fine, an odd day of drizzle, but nothing to worry about.

Got caught up in the ATC strike so spent two nights in Malaga on the way back courtesy of Ryanair, lovely hotel, FREE, and it was Semana Santa (Holy Week), what an amazing spectacle and the Spanish take it very seriously indeed. That was an unexpected bonus!

Next up is the West of Ireland, the Wild Atlantic Way.

Then in June a week to visit to Bilbao and San Sebastian, then over the border to France, and a train to St. Jean de Pied de Port, the start of the Camino de Santiago. Not planning on doing the Camino, but will walk a few kms just for now.

Fly home from Biarritz with a night there beforehand.

That's what we're doing melanzana, although I lose the will to live sometimes with all the waiting around at airports, & on 2nd & 3rd flights. I have actually started to sleep on the plane a bit now though, so that helps. I've still got NZ to do, then anything after will be a picnic :D

Just booking the final parts of my latest adventure - it's really a short break. This trip came about when SAS had flights from GOT to ORD for £250 return (London to Chicago direct was running £700ish). I'd originally planned to fly out of Dublin which was still a good deal at £350 return.

Day 1 Fly STN to Gothenburg for peanuts with Ryanair and stay one night in the city centre on an old Danish tall ship that is permanently moored in the city centre as a hotelboat

Day 2 Leisurely breakfast and wander around Gothenburg - which is a very wanderable city
Fly in the afternoon from Gothenburg to Chicago and stay overnight at an airport hotel at O Hare

Day 3 Fly to Kalamazoo (one way one hour flight was a ridiculous £250 but with AA miles 7.5K miles and £3 in taxes) 2 nights hotel.

Join friends for two nights - bit of sightseeing and we're catching a show there

Day 5 Amtrak Battle Creek to Chicago and then train out to the western suburbs where I'm seeing another show. Chicago hotels are ridiculously priced so using airbnb for a room 15 mins walk of both the theatre and the station

Day 6 Train from the 'burbs back to Chicago for a spot of sightseeing and the obligatory Chicago hotdog then hop on the transit to O'Hare to fly back overnight to Stockholm this time and BA back to London (10K of AA miles again and £13 in taxes for the flight to London)

Total cost for all flights, Amtrak and all hotels come in just under £500 so by going the long way around I'm paying less for the entire trip than the flight direct to Chicago alone would have cost..

I could have used Amtrak instead of flying to Kalamazoo - and also used Ryanair on the way back from Gothenburg instead of BA from Stockhom if I hadn't had miles for about the same cost - but timewise it was worth using the miles for me as the timings are better.

With the exception of returning from Seoul in premium economy (It was only £90 more) I've only ever flown economy. I'm not currently working but will definitely look to fly business for the next holiday once I've found work. I think that I deserve a treat.

Glad you had a good holiday MP, started planning your next yet or is it already done?

I've never done biz class either Ballard. Although we did Premium Economy with UA when I won a holiday from off here once. Cillian Murphy was not impressed that he had to sit behind me :D his kid was a right pain, & kicked me in the back for a full 10 hours :(
