Two nights in Macau should be plenty. It's a nice place and the centre is very Portuguese but it's not the largest place in the world. If you like casinos, though, you'll have a whale of a time.
I really liked the Tian Tan Buddha in Lantau island in HK and that'd be my suggestion, for what it's worth. The cable car there gives a nice view too.0 -
Just back from a long weekend in Berlin where I had a fantastic time.
That's all I have booked for now. I did look at doing something for Easter but the prices everywhere are silly so I'm going to stop at home.0 -

I've only just spotted this and it sounds great. She will be covering a lot of ground so will be exhausted upon her return.
I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to Kolkata & Darjeeling and may well fly into the Darjeeling area and get the toy train back. In my experience of Indian trains 'express' is a bit of a misnomer as they don't seem too go that fast and they seemingly stop randomly in the middle of nowhere. I do remember getting the Shatabdi express and learning that the word means 'arrow' so she can 'impress' everyone with that nugget!
I've only travelled first class in India once and I have to say that there was no atmosphere so prefer standard class but, having said that, I'd go first class if I were getting a sleeper. I would suggest that she spends a little time sitting with the masses just to get a feel for it.
Varanasi & Shimla are places that I would like to visit. Shimla is the old summer capital as the heat of Calcutta was too hot. I had the chance to visit Shimla a while back but my friend went alone while I stayed in Chandigarh to watch the last two days of a test match. Unfortunately, England had other ideas and collapsed the next morning leaving me a day and a half with nothing to do. There was an election on and the state was declared dry so I couldn't even get a beer.
I've been to Delhi three times and I'm not particularly a fan. The traffic is awful and the pollution worse. Vehicles run on LPG but it hasn't made a huge difference to the air quality. That's not to say that it's a boring place. Quite the contrary, it's very lively and there are some interesting sights. It's the pollution that puts me off but friends that I travelled there with didn't mind it as much as me so perhaps I'm just a bit grumpy about it for no reason.0 -
