I'm seriously looking at Iceland in early November for a music festival (particularly as the utterly delightful PJ Harvey is playing)

If all goes to plan then a week or two later I will take my main holiday but I don't know where yet. Darjeeling or Burma are currently shortlisted but I have a fair bit of investigation to do.

Look into combining Iceland and network as its actually cheaper than doing either!

This may be a daft question but what is 'network'?

I suspect that it is a autocorrect for "New York". You can get some good deals on flying to NYC via Iceland.

I did wonder whether it was autocorrect but I couldn't think where. It's obvious now.

I'm in a bit of an awkward situation, really. I'm not currently working but hope/expect to have a job within a few months. Although I'm happy to book a trip or two I can't really book a huge amount of time off, particularly in a short space of time. I'd be pushing it to take more than a few days off for Iceland and then 3 weeks a couple of weeks later.

I've been on a flight booking spree...

    Gibraltar in March
    Dublin in April
    Alaska in June

Considering Slovenia in late summer, looked at going for Easter but flights were extortionate

Alaskas been top of my wish list for ages so going to have fun planning out the details of the trip now.

You need to find something for May! What's the weather like in Alaska in June, I'm assuming not as freezing?

I've added another one to my list. I'd already reported
    - Dubai: this month
    - Amsterdam: next month
    - France: summer

I can now add a combined trip to New York and Turks and Caicos to the list. First time for both so very exciting!!!!

When do you leave for Dubai? Was that spur of the moment trip? I so want to go to Turks and Caicos, booked AI or DIY? Share hotel details for your stays, I want to snoop on TA?
  • Venice was an impulse buy - I was looking for a long weekend in the UK, or possibly in northern France by ferry and came across flights to Venice for a similar price to a ferry or UK train fare, discovered that Venice hotels weren't as expensive as they are in high season so decided to go there.

I love it when that happens! Have a FAB long weekend!

Oh dear not the Jimmy Krankie look

Can't get the link up Pete as it's now dead, although I've got a copy on my iPhone as a book but if I try to send it it's still dead.

    5 nights Kathmandu

    3 nights Pokhara

    2 nights Lumbini

    3 nights Chitwan

Looks like a load of temples .... lakes, caves, looking at mountains rather than climbing them, short cruise, Chitwan National Park, jeep safari, jungle walk, canoeing, oh God I'll probably tip out! Driving around & looking at various beautiful scenery.

I'm off to read up on your destinations! Sounds Lovely!
  • Not overrated IMO. I go far away every Christmas and New Year..

    Agreed!!!!!!!!

Do come back and share all when you have decided! Both excellent choices.

I'm still trying to find a getaway in October for a long weekend, no idea where to go though, but I'd love to go to Rome!
