Holiday Withdrawal Symptoms......Tell me where you're going?

Our luggage was as follows:
2 x Large suitcases
1 x Medium - the 20 year old said he didn't need a big one, now I know it is because he only took so little!
My two boys had a rucksack each
I just had my cross body bag.
(Snorkelling Gear, clothes, all types of over the counter meds, many charges for different things, clothes for any/all eventualities for myself?!?!?)
RE: Chargers, my 20 year old didn't pack his laptop charger, so used mine at times I found that annoying and inconvenient especially the night he took my charger and I couldn't sleep, battery ran out only to realise he'd taken it to their part of the villa, which had separate entry, so spent 15 minutes trying to wake him up without making too much noise, grrrrrrrrr, so told him to bring his own next time (will be checking and packing for him next time!!!).
We all took our mobiles + mobile chargers + Laptops + Go Pro Charger + other Camera charger + Go Pro Selfie Stick + Go Pro floaty device thingy.
So our personal kits by themselves add to weight?
Underwear, I ALWAYS pack extra = we went for 18 days so I took 25 days worth of underwear
Am I doing something wrong because I can't understand how you guys manage to pack so little?
If that's what you want to take you're doing nothing wrong!
Regardless of length of trip (3.5 months this summer) I only take one 65L rucksack which weighs about 13kg when full - and that includes a tent and sleeping bag.
If you're looking on cutting down then the laptop is the obvious casualty. You're presumably taking way more clothes than you need - 25 days of underwear seems enormously excessive, I'm only taking 10 days worth for 15 weeks! It's easy to find washing machines almost everywhere, and if not (or I'm just feeling stingy!) then a quick hand wash is easy enough.0 -

Easy now Callum, there is no way I'm leaving home without my laptop:(
Underwear is excessive I agree, but I'm stuck in a "what if" vicious cycleand it really does annoy me that I come back without wearing some clothes.

For 2 weeks I was going to take:
[STRIKE]14 pants [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]6 bra[/STRIKE]
2 socks as I suffer from very, very, cold feet whilst in bed - I do too!
3 nightie - 2 x PJs
1 cosa - as in swimsuit/bikini? I took 4 bathing suites!
2 see through things to wear over cosa - I take about 7 which I can get away wearing as floaty dresses
1 sarong - took 3, never used them.
3 smart dresses for evening - I just took 1 dress that can go from day to night
2 floater dresses for comfort days
[STRIKE]2 denim skirts[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]10 shorts[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]14 tops[/STRIKE]
2 belts - never take belts
1 flip flop
[STRIKE]2 sandal[/STRIKE]
But now I'm questioning myself. I've previously thought of taking enough stuff for a week, hanging it up, then wearing again the 2nd week. But I'm not sure I can go that far.
I love a holiday place where there's a song involved (then we keep singing it), otherwise we sing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nLiQBV6A7c
When we go cruising I tend to pack more evening wear.
The ones I've crossed out is what I would probably take too for a 2 week trip.0 -

Mega bus to London (via tesco clubcard), staying over one night at Premier Inn, St Pancras, to catch early morning Eurostar. The money we saved by going early paid for the hotel.
Arrive in Paris at lunch time, stay one night at a hotel near Gare de Lyon.
Leaving at approx 2 pm on the TGV double decker train to Barcelona.
3 nights in Barcelona in an apartment booked via House Trip, then the Renfe train down to Salou where we're in a mid range hotel for a week.
Flying back by Ryanair to Stansted. This and the journey home from Stansted are the most expensive part of our travel.
We're excited, but I'm nervous as all the component parts have been booked separately and only the hotel booking in Salou is ABTA/ATOL protected.
We're taking two medium cases and three cabin size cases. The clothes for Paris and Barcelona will be in the cabin bags. We were thinking of leaving the suitcases in the left luggage in the Gare de Lyon as there is a four hour gap between arriving and being able to book into our hotel. Likewise we may also do the same in Sants station in Barcelona rather than lug them around.
I always seem to take far too much so will be trying to streamline more this time.
Any suggestions of how to get the most out of our afternoon and morning in Paris would be gratefully received. :}
Animal what an adventure! It will all be fine!
So you will leave your 2 medium bags before flying on Rynair? Are there 3 of your travelling? Reason I ask is that they have always been strict about the number of hand luggage you are allowed, and they will charge you extra for that third bag.0 -

Not even if you swap it for a decent tablet? I find my 8" Samsung tablet fine for pretty much anything I would use a laptop for while on holiday.
I came back without wearing some clothes and I take hardly anything compared to you! In which case, maybe it's best to reduce the amount slightly on each trip you take? Don't take the extra weeks worth of underwear and worst case scenario, you can wash a couple of them in the sink?0 -

The answer to "what if" scenarios is that you just buy what you need. No matter where you are it is likely that there will be somewhere to buy some emergency pants.
As long as you have a credit card and passport everything else can be replaced easily.0 -
Did a month in Asia with 3 cabin bags - 1 adult, 2 kids. Brought back unworn stuff - dead simple + cheap to get stuff washed.
There is nothing like the feeling of walking straight off the plane, straight to customs. :-)Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I'm going to challenge myself and you are right, I can easily and simply replace anything.

It's dead simple. Rolling is your friend. Folding takes more room. All light clothing. Flip flops + walking shoes only. 7 ish tops. 1 warm item like a cardi. 5 pairs of trousers/skirts/dresses. Pants and bras. PJ shortees. 2 swimming costumes. Many many places to get clothes washed for pennies. All fits with room to spare. I got loads of stationary in Cambodia as it's so cheap and it's great for prizes in my classroom, and could fit it all in as well as the new boots I had custom made in Phnom Penh at Beautiful Shoes.
Was so glad we packed this way when we got stuck in transit in Bahrain - we were in the hotel quite happily going swimming while waiting for the plane out, sunbathing, and changing into fresh clothes. Felt so sorry for people who were trying to sunbathe in jeans and long sleeve tops, trying to make the best of it.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Meant to say in my last post......
I've now booked my August 3 night stay in Cornwall for Surf school AND I also managed to book a 6 night stay in SA end of September in the BA sale. Both of which will be solo trips!
Cornwall = 118 Days 12 Hours 10 Min
SA = 146 Days 14 Hours 40 Min
Oh the joys of travelling alone!
I think from now I will try to go travelling solo twice a year 1 x city break and 1 x 4/5 night holiday.0
