They have probably received the salary figure your employer has provided via RTI. You will receive letters in the post so I would wait until then. I'm not chasing mine as I have better things to do than stay on hold for an hour.0 -
Can't post for long as am at work, but just called tax credits helpline and my award notice has been issued. Asked why I was asked about red line/what it meant and was told it doesn't mean anything and not to worry about it.0

how long have you waited in total scarla ?
silly they ask the question if means nothing . :>)0 -
Wow - I filed my renewal online last week (had a mega paper work day, and filed my SA and then tax credits in one day - felt really smug and organised!!), and got all my paperwork through today.
One wee question for someone who knows tax credits better than me though (before I spend a frustrating hour or so trying to get through!)
I have two older children (17 and nearly 16). The 17 year old starts a non-advanced college course after the summer, which I have informed both tax credits and child benefit about, and he has been included as a qualifying young person for the full 2015-2016 year. The younger one is staying on at school, for S5, to do Highers (we're in Scotland), and I informed them both about this as well, but he is only included on this years notice until 31st August.
I vaguely recollect that, even if you have told them about a child staying on, they only include the child up to the end of August, and the claim is recalculated after 31/08, but as last years renewal was such a shambles for me (I was one of the last to receive my renewal pack, and then when I renewed over the phone, my details weren't picked up by the system, so my claim was cancelled, and I had to get my MP to sort, as it was just a disaster!), my renewal wasn't processed until around the end of August anyway, so can't remember if that's *actually* what happens, or if I need to phone them again to get my nearly 16 year old put back on at the end of the holidays. Do I need to phone again?!0 -
About 10 days. I agree about it being silly that they ask the question, not entirely convinced it means nothing though why it is asking about the red line now and not earlier when I called is beyond me.0

Thanks Blondebubbles! I was just a bit confused as to why it would already show that my eldest was still included for the full year, but not the 15 year old - I'll not panic, and leave the call centre in peace just now then!0 -

After that you don't need to tell them until 18 and 19yrs (unless anything changes).

Aaaaah! That makes sense - I thought you had to report that they were staying in education every year after they turned 16 - that the assumption at the tax credit office was that they would be finishing, unless otherwise informed. All clear in my head now - thankyou!0 -

I have a 16 year old who will start college in Sept.
He receives the disability element.Does that continue automatically when the claim is updated on 1st Sept ?
My renewal was completed in six days.
We are self employed (earned just under NMW for hours declared) and have child in college but no compliance and last years tax credits final notice also received today.
I have a feeling self employed compliance will come later in the year when they have done with child care.0
