Thanks Kc ... We will be very careful when we are mortgage free as we have a continued goal, maybe that was where she went wrong? I was shocked at what she did say though, but will look at it as an opportunity to learn and ensure it wont be the future we experience
A wee free reminder and lesson if you will0 -

I know I would be much better off debt free never mind mortgage free! I am currently paying mortgage and debt at a rate of 2k a month! Wow what I could do with that each month!!!
You are doing really well with the mortgage challenge on top of everything else! I hope your new placement is good too!0 -

Aye I thought the same as well ... placement ... welllllllll I am counting myself very lucky that this is the first place I am not enjoying, so many of my fellow students have hated all their placements, I am learning an awful lot ... none of it nursing, but dealing with situations ... which I know that when I am a nurse I am going to come up against time and time again, it is an issue I have had for a long time so I know that I will learn a lot this time and am grateful for the opportunity to learnedinburgher wrote: »Ah, the dreaded lifestyle inflation

Well yesterday, we had a rather stressful day with the family, I think that both Mr El and myself have been so busy dealing with so many things that we have not spent as much time as we shouldve with the inlaw's, yes we phone often and we generally have met up once or twice a week and Mr El tries to pop in daily when he is out and about but yesterday we stepped into the middle of a war zone, Mr El disappeared with his dad and I stayed with his mum, we calmed the situation down and then left.
On our way down to Castle Douglas we discussed the situation, we knew that things were getting more stressful for all but I think maybe we didnt appreciate just how much, we have decided we are going to have to be more involved and deal with more things for them and hopefully things will calm down, we have also recognised though that we need to spend time for us as well.
So yesterday was a wonderful day to go for a long drive after the stress, it was a wonderful time to spend destressing with Mr El, we were very money conscious and looked at a few places for price lists for food, we found them a bit too much for us so landed up having a wonderful pancake in a Dutch pancake place, then went for a long walk around the local loch just chatting and spending time, preparing for the future and discussing the nurse ( yep the mortgage and FIRE were never far away from the chat)
We pulled up outside the theatre and I noticed the car behind us had a Common Weal sticker I turned to Mr El and said " well we must be in the right place " ... Went in the theatre and was thoroughly impressed, its an old church that has been turned into a community place ( as opposed to a pub or flats) where they show films and put on productions of various plays, it was real communities in action and blew me away.
The play, well we laughed and laughed and laughed, the acting wasnt brilliant, but it was like they recognised they were an Am Dram production and decided rather than try and be professional they would behave within their limits and act accordingly, it was so refreshing, it was hilarious, it was nothing like Shakespeare, it was people playing Norwegian wood and sleeping in the mystery machine, a guy floating about smoking a joint and a wa being a wa and then going a wa ... we laughed so hard we had tears running down our faces, I am not doing it justice by describing it to you but honestly take my word it was brilliant, worth every penny and more.
So today we are getting organised doing a bit of cooking then we are back down to the parents house to see how things are going today.0 -
I must be missing something, because catching up with the in-laws in person once or twice a week sounds excessive to me and you think you're not seeing them enough?!
Are they older/do they have health problems? Mr El's once a day sounds incredibly hard to achieve...0
