That is sad. Love to all concerned,
Squirrel xPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Now to carry on with money issues ( trying not to dwell too long on the RL situation)
I have kinda decided to play a wee game with myself, the tax relief I get from the pension I am going to spend in shares ( or funds etc) that I have a haunch etc on, leaving the main money growing in the Vanguard 80 and 60 accounts... today I purchased a further £250 in RBS shares, I have a feeling they will go up, I think this will take a couple of years but have decided to invest some more money into them. I am going to sell when they double my money and not hold on until they are very high as I am not sure that will happen, but I do believe they will double in value in the nearish future.
Still to organise the TESLA shares but I am not in such a rush for that0 -
Thanks Squirrel just saw your message xxx0

Hi Elantan, I hope today went ok. It's so hard losing people close to us.
Take care, Tilly x x x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

I can understand not dwelling, El. Interesting to work on your hunch, and *fascinating* about Tesla - I love the whole Tesla concept
Hope you're doing okay today.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Tesla was the one I hinted about a while ago Kc
I got wind of the new battery about a week before it became "public" knowledge, nothing illegal you understand just info gathered from unusual sources
Sadly that's when I realised the whole american buying shares is not simple ... Then Apple dropped their bomb... Man I would've made a tonne
Have a wee think about Teslafor the long term not short term

Ahhhh virgin media, you just don't like people that don't take out TV and phone do u ?
Having issues with VM they are gonna charge me £40 for the pleasure of having their broadband .... Well we will see we will see
been having lots of issues on placement as well now don't get me wrong I think I will love nursing, but you know how sometimes you just don't "gel" with people? Well that's my current situation, have been moaning about it a bit to friends, but I will get there I am sure
And I'm sure my friends will be glad for the peace
Having a great wee ( and much needed) night on the verandah with the fire pit a bottle of wine and the wonderful company of Mr El so all is not lost lol
Hope you are all well ?0 -
A verandah and a firepit ... sounds heavenly, though the placement doesn't!
VM - they didn't want me, they said it was because I had phone broadband, not cable. They shoved me onto talktalk, and I was *very* suspicious at first, but it turns out they're £7 a month cheaper2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh Kc it was heaven, sometimes with the busy lives we lead it's hard to find time to just be and connect with loved ones again, last night we took that time, a wee fire pit, a bottle of wine to share, the best company and great conversation.
We chatted about retirement and plans for the future, what exactly is it we want, we kicked a few ideas around, the idea of selling our current house living in a caravan in summer and buying somewhere abroad for winter, the idea of keeping our house buying a van or motor home and travelling abroad for winter, the idea of keeping the house and buying a small place in a country somewhere like Thailand or Cambodia etc where it is cheaper to buy and wintering there.
Loads of ideas and plans but not firmed up, we are too far away from retiring to firm any plans and we both accept and understand that, but it is good to talk and find out what each other finds acceptable and not acceptable, we discussed pensions and investments how Mr El's are performing and how mine could never ever hope to compete with his but how we are a couple and everything is ours not his and hers ( this works for us, I totally respect it is not for everyone)
We chatted about the health of Mr El's parents and what exactly we were willing to contribute and how to put safeguards in for our sanity when things get harder ( as we know they will)
We chatter about things we want to do this year, how we wont be able to afford to go away on holiday as we have had to spend excessive amounts on various things, but how we still intend on doing things, like spending time in the polytunnel, going wood hunting etc, Mr El found out that in the village we used to live in ( where Master El lives) there is a production of Hamlet at the local castle, and how Mr El, Master El Master El's Gf and myself will be making a night of it, we will picnic in the castle share a few bottles of wine and stay at Mr El's parents house for the night ( have asked permission, they happily agreed we could stay)0 -
