I used to be quite a fan (don't tell Mrs Generali though!).

I don't really understand that. Surely, if you'd found somebody you liked enough to go to bed with, and who liked you enough to go to bed with you, you'd both want to continue the relationship?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I've had Belgian sausage for breakfast this morning. Very nice it was too.

I was en Bruxelles earlier this week so also brought back some beers. And some lemon genever. And a can of escargot for a colleague who cheekily demanded chocolates.

I suspect that Wheezy was hoping that his moped racing friend would be enjoying a similar breakfast.

Sounds lovely. I love Brussels. And beer. And snails. Nom...snails.

Another day of scorching hot weather followed by a massive storm followed by a pleasant evening. A neighbour who has broken her arm and asked me over to chop vegetables for her a while back invited Mrs Generali and I over for cake which was nice. She's pregnant it turns out. Nothing to do with me guv.

Garlic butter is very nice, and greatly improved by not having snails in it.

    Good call.
    And some lemon genever.

    Even better call.
And a can of escargot for a colleague who cheekily demanded chocolates.

    Legendary... :D

Two pains au chocolat and a cappucino for late breakfast (ie about an hour ago) here.

Aldi do really cheap packs of pains au chocolat, something like £1.20 for 8, individually wrapped so they don't have to all be eaten at once (though I sense that would not be hard to do). In the microwave for 15 secs to melt the choc and they are divine.

I do like fresh pains au chocolate, but that would involve getting dressed and putting a face on to visit the bakers. I would not leave the house without light make up (even if just mascara and a bit of lip gloss), so the thought of wearing pyjamas out is inconceivable.

For work? Sounds like you get to travel to some fun and interesting places, even if the politics can be a bit annoying at times.

Speaking of politics at work, I hope jelly is enjoying his new job.

Pork in cider and cream sauce with fried spuds and a big pile of veggies today. Nom.

I had Anton Carluccio's pumpkin risotto for dinner last night. It's in an out of print book that Mrs Generali managed to get a second hand copy of for me off Amazon. Bloody heck it's a good recipe. You cook down half a small pumpkin until it's mush and add it along with the stock as you cook the risotto. Wonderful stuff. We had it with lemon and thyme BBQ'd chook that I made while doing the rice. Nom, nom, nom.

You missed the part where you ate moules frites with some implausibly strong if rather delicious beer.

    Mussels are yuck.
My favourite was a 'mitraillette'; a piece of french stick, filled with sliced sausage/meatball, frites and copious amounts of sauce (mayo, andalouse, americaine, samurai...)

That looks like one of the po'boy sandwiches they have in New Orleans. They're basically half a french stick stuffed with hot fried battered oysters, prawns, meats of your choosing. They are indeed the very thing! :j
