Talking of, I assume, Oz hills, OH is at this moment somewhere in the vicinity of Ayers Rock.
If I was going to Oz for 6 days, the very last thing I would want to do after a 24 hour flight is get on another plane for 3 hours!
its a long way to go for just 6 days. You'd have to pay me a lot to do that.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I totally agree. Which is why I turned down the offer to accompany him.
That 6 days doesn't include the flight times, but still....beyond madness.
Due to our carefully calculated Avios planning, it would cost no more for us to plan a leisure trip at some point, than for me to go on one of his business jaunts, so I will wait until we can have more time there. At least now we can cross Ayers rock off the list of essential places to visit.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Interesting definition of essential. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
We crossed something off our essential places to visit yesterday....Norwich Castle.
Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Ayers rock though!
Really cheap to get into though as there was something going on with the RSPB doing displays etc yesterday, would have been £2 for the two of us but I also organised for youngest to go up on the battlements (£2.75) and bought a guide book. £8.75 for the pair of us is still blooming good going.
Youngest got some amazing photos from up there and learned so much from the guide who took him, so well worth it, just wish I could have gone up with him but alas, I was stuck down in the main bit in my wheelchair. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

We call it Uluru these days in recognition of the fact that Ernest Giles didn't discover it at all and so didn't have naming rights!
The local Aboriginals don't like people climbing it at all, probably for much the same reason that you can't abseil down St Peter's in Rome. They also don't like some parts of the rock to be photographed because some parts of the rock are only open to one sex and they don't want to come across a picture of a forbidden site by mistake. The worst thing is when people do dumb stuff like a striptease on the rock.
I took mum and her OH up to the Blue Mountains along with MiL and FiL plus the Generalissimos and Mrs Generali. We went to the Three Sisters:
And then on to the Toy and Train Museum:

Which is a lovely place. A really eclectic collection of toys plus some model railways and nice gardens. Plus we went to the lovely pie shop for lunch. Nom, Nom, Nom. I love a good pie me. And I got takeaways.:j
The weather was lovely, sunny with a breeze and 23C. It was 31C in Sydney today and humid which was a bit much so it was nice to get up there.
Now home to watch the tennis. Go Murray!!!0 -
I am not in any hurry to go to Uluru either, as I would not climb on it and it is a long way to go to see something from afar.
Fwiw I would not want to go inside the pyramids either.
Gen, that part of the Blue Mountains is beautiful. Nooo! They can't be the 3 sisters.
These are the 3 sisters mountains...in Canmore, Western Canada. My sis has a house facing them. I don't remember her describing them as the 3 impostor sisters

Honestly, I like the hills of places in the UK, *even rainy Peak district*, but they have nothing on the scenery in places like Canada and Oz.0 -

He was like a human comfort blanket.
Whilst he was around you knew that there was a certain continuity to life here.0
