Our TV is in the coldest room in the house, so I guess it saves us the cost of turning the heating on.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I agree on the fiddly bit, especially now I am a bit short on fine motor skills. This weekend Iused the bigger bana shallots and my lvely husband peeled over a kilo of them
I've never had good fine motor skills. My handwriting is awful, for example. As is my ability to peel shallots!
I would gladly help you to peel a kilo of shallots. What would you do with 10g of peeled shallots and 990g of peelings, though? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Nooo. We are so lucky in this country to have a temperate climate.
I reckon there are very few days when I couldn't go out running; the exceptions being mainly when ice makes secure footing impossible.
Wind and rain are not really a problem.
I absolutely agree. We walk for at least an hour most days, and that's despite not liking going out when it rains. We just watch the weather forecasts and time our walks appropriately. Apart from anything else, rain gets on my glasses and I can't see. For runners, I understand, rain is a boon, as it stops you getting too hot.No reliance should be placed on the above! I may have been a little ambitious with the new year plans...........
As in the song I've promised, I can't reach half the notes when I could 6 months ago....💙💛 💔0 -
Our bedroom TV has started making a noise like cicadas.
I don't think they fix TVs anymore. Last time we asked, they told us to buy a new one as it was cheaper than fixing it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I never realised you could sing. Adding this to the list of CK skills.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. But if I could get to local library just once and sign up might be able to use library stuff online?
Gave up on library years ago when kids were small as could never get books back on date required - the fines were just too much!
OH was librarian when I first met him, but then moved to IT. His bro and my SiL librarians, as is our niece. I believe in the power of libraries, the sad thing is so many are getting shut down.
That's just like my DD1, except that her only child is now 22.....she gave up for the same reason, and she loves reading! Thank goodness for charity shop bookshelves.0 -

CK, I would try singing scales for a few minutes every day (aiming to go one note higher each time you sing them in each session IYSWIM) and you should find you're able to reach those high notes again as the scales will gently stretch the range of your voice. Also, sing some for a few minutes before your performance to warm up your voice.
HTH.
Oh dear Doozergirl, why do these things always seem to happen just before Christmas? Our TV broke down on Christmas Day once.0 -
A 50 inch plasma would be a thing of dreams for the boys, our current (rented) one is a 47 (I think, it's a weird number) smart TV. That only just fits in the space though, so much so that we have to be careful how we open the front room door to avoid bashing the side of it, we have now put a wooden piggy CD rack by the side to protect it.
That's the problem with this house, the rooms are too blooming small for anything, we can't even fit in a proper 3 piece suite!
CK - Josh has the same problem, he damaged his throat in mid October and it is taking some time getting his higher range back. It is much improved to how it was though, at one point, he couldn't even talk let alone sing. Have you tried vocalzone? Does wonders for Josh.
Talking about Josh and singing, he has been asked to feature/guest sing for another band on a couple of tracks in a recording studio and possibly some gigs.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Ivyleaf - mum and dad's telly broke down Christmas eve 2 years ago, lots of fun that was being dragged around our very small choice of TV shops when everything was shutting down for Christmas and they couldn't decide what they wanted. We made it!
