    You have my condolences !

DW here dislikes tvs too. It was a stretch to get her to accept a 50in telly in the lounge.

All you need now is red velvet curtains which pull back automatically when the Pearl & Dean music plays :)

It isn't going in the lounge ( that has a mere 32") but in the ex playroom.

Now going to admit how many inches our no brand chav tv is, in my defence we are 15 feet to the sofa and my eyes are carp.

Assume the first was meant to be "not", shame because I was going to offer you the old one.

Seriously if anyone wants a 50" plasma let me know.

Thanks for the kind offer - shame PN and SS are not near enough to take advantage.

We also have a 'discrete' little 32 incher in the 'grown ups' lounge the xx inch is in the family room, the 6 year old 46 inch from the family room is in our bedroom then DKs have bedroom tvs too but only for PC, games, movies etc no 'live' TV.

All I ever seem to watch is a few mins of news in the morning/evening.

Aren't plasmas despite the great picture rather 'thirsty' when it comes to 'leccy?
    I think....

I do know someone who is returning a 48" 4K telly - dissatisfied with it; I didn't explore why. He thinks its faulty, I think he doesn't understand how it works.

If you want to sell it SC I can ask him?

The EU considered trying to ban them at one point.

There are still people who like the plasma picture quality. Personally, I'm not that bothered.

    I don't have room for a telly that's bigger than me ....
    It'd scare me.

I remember demoing how I'd set up the tv in the front room to DS, hoping he'd enjoy watching films in there.

I'd connected the bluray to the hifi, not even fancy prologic or anything.

I put on a Harry Potter movie, and shortly into the film there was a dramatic crack sound from a thunderstorm, with the rumbling aftershock.

It was probably a bit loud, and the speakers took on the task of reproducing the effect with relish....so much so that DS ran out of the room crying !!

We are upgrading to improve the picture quality. If your friend is not satisfied with a 4k telly I doubt he would be happy with this. I'm happy for him to look at it, if he is anywhere near, but wouldn't want him to commit without him knowing what he was getting.

What is it with blokes and big TVs?
Is it some form of compensation?
    :)

It's compensation for having to go to work all week!

I'm not sure exactly what its energy usage is but our 42 inch plasma heats up the living room to the extent that if it is on all day we don't really need the radiator on, so I am guessing it is pretty thirsty...
