I tried cooking shallots once. Almost impossibly fiddly to peel, and when you're done with that there's practically no onion left. Why bother?

I agree on the fiddly bit, especially now I am a bit short on fine motor skills. This weekend Iused the bigger bana shallots and my lvely husband peeled over a kilo of them

Five years ago today I put a picture on Facebook of our garden covered knee deep in snow.
    Unlikely to re-occur.

29th wedding anniversary is furniture. OH has bought a TV! Just what I always wanted, not.

Happy anniverary Silvercar. Just think that next year is your pearl anniversary. Could make the cost of the TV pale into insignificance.

You've not lived in Cornwall..... horizontal driving wind and rain for weeks on end. Temperate = bl00dy wet. Peninsula = very windy.

    I "is in Manchest-oh"

Oops - there was Michael the cold hearted thinking that surely if you aren't working and have all day every day you can manage to keep fit in your local park without needing a free gym membership.

I thought it was harsh. Most of them would be using a gym rather than going to classes, so the equipment will be there whether it is used or not. It would be easy for them to arrange a free off-peak membership for them to keep their fitness levels up and still ensure that there's sufficient kit for paying customers the rest of the time.

Lacks joined up thinking between whatever bodies are involved.

    Thanks all.

The 50" plasma is being dumped for a 55" LED.

    You have my condolences !

DW here dislikes tvs too. It was a stretch to get her to accept a 50in telly in the lounge.

All you need now is red velvet curtains which pull back automatically when the Pearl & Dean music plays :)

What is it with blokes and big TVs?
Is it some form of compensation?
    :)

My excuse is that my chair is about 15 feet from where the television is. A 32in telly would look daft.

There is an estate not so far from here, where I can show you massive tellies in a room 12' by 12' or less. I'm surprised there is any wall space left!

I don't really go for fancy tellies and screens. I think my sound bar was double the price of the telly (don't tell DW). It only gets used for movies too.

We got a new smart TV the other week and I'm very pleased with it. 30" at a guess.

Funny isn't it, 20 years ago that would have been gargantuan for a TV, now it's a mini budget one.

Not going to admit how many inches our no brand chav tv is, in my defence we are 15 feet to the sofa and my eyes are carp.
    I think....

Not able to get to library so not member. I keep thinking should join, they used to do disabled delivery. but suspect that's gone with Dave and Gideon's austerity drive.

But if I could get to local library just once and sign up might be able to use library stuff online?

Gave up on library years ago when kids were small as could never get books back on date required - the fines were just too much! :o

OH was librarian when I first met him, but then moved to IT. His bro and my SiL librarians, as is our niece. I believe in the power of libraries, the sad thing is so many are getting shut down. :(

DQWD: My two are sat backstage at an event I'm working tonight, taking selfies.

I know it's busy tonight, but why not get out and enjoy the music?
