Noooo! Don't do it. Ended up in one s couple of months ago as is not so far from my house. And my mum had a voucher she was determined to use. It was dreadful.

Within the same 10 days I also found myself dining at a Brewer's Fayre and a Beefeater. Suddenly remembered why I cook for myself so much.

Tonight I've had a variation on sausage, mash and gravy. Some nice beer and a genever (very nice). Also treating myself to a bath. Just because :)

:eek:I bought a replacement pair of Birkenstocks through groupon. They arrived so I threw out the box and the old pair. Now I am suspicious that the new ones are fakes.

They don't feel as solid as the old ones. Also they don't have "birk" embossed into the sole like my other ones do (I keep 2 pairs on the go in different colours).

I've eaten at harvesters ( in the eighties) and a friend of mine was a waitress and one in the nineties and wouldn't even eat there. :D. I don't know about the other two. :o. Its just not the type of 'fayre' :rotfl::rotfl: I lookout for. Solstice park that was the services where we ate, I remember now, was after a function where fir had eaten and I hadn't , but he was amazingly still hungry, and so we had to stop so he could eat again, and he was just infatuated with the food. I was annoyed we had missed the Heston little chef further back the a303' which is funny and still hardly fine dining but its ironic at least. ( and the ox cheeks, or pigs cheeks or who Evers cheeks they were, were nice)

I tried the new version. I changed it back again. It's all a bit too spaced out although this one looks silly in comparison. All our avatars look silly on the new one as well.

My kids like the Harvester for the salad bar, mainly. I can hardly bear it. Much like PN, I went to one for the first time when I was 21. I remember being told about a chocolate marshmallow dessert they sold when I was about 12. Doozer and I took DS on his 1st birthday and ordered four puddings :o. Seems like another lifetime!

We're all still alive. This storm is something else though.

I'm listening to the Sydney radio station and stuff that would normally be central to the travel news simply isn't being reported because the police can't get to the scene. Sydney's third (?) biggest river burst its banks and the fact was called in by some bloke. A big dam in Manly, north Sydney (not north of Sydney) is overflowing.

Three people died north of Sydney and of course there are the usual pictures of boats slipping their moorings and cars on rooves. Oh and a house floated away!!!

    And the rain keeps coming.

Since the IAU demoted Pluto so it is no longer a planet, there is a particularly apt mnemonic to help with remembering the remaining ones:

It sounds pretty dire where you are, Gen. Are you planning to spend tomorrow indoors at home? Edit, I mean today.

    Be safe Gen.

I cannot sleep. Non RP visited today ( yesterday ) and spent entire visit telling me I was too hideous to go out these days and it was good I enjoyed gardening. RP agreed.

Fir is livid, I'm ok, not un centred just a bit annoyed. I wish I had the kind of oarents who thought the sun shone out of my ample backside!

Yup. I kept the Generalissimos off school because of the rain. Most of the motorways are shut at least in part. It looks like SiL who has been without power for 24 hours will be without for a while longer. I am concerned for her MiL who has also lost power and relies on oxygen to stay alive. The oxygen needs power AIUI.

We're doing okay though and it does seem to be easing off.

I'm not surprised fir is livid. What your Ps said is so far from true, but even if it was, what good would saying it do? And in YOUR home?

They don't know what they're talking about.
