I have a nephew living and working in Sydney and we spoke on phone this morning and he, typically, downplayed this storm. From what he said it was a bit of rain and a bit windy. I now know better, thank you, Generali. Hope you are all safe and sound and remain so tomorrow too.

It's hit the north hardest and north of Sydney worst of all. In order of bad so far it's:

    Hunter
    Central Coast
    Newcastle
    N. Sydney
    Illawarra
    The Shire (south Sydney)

That's the top 6 of bad.

I live out west, past Parramatta, and had some delays getting home but perhaps 10 mins extra on my travel time.

We cope with this stuff, it's the price of living in paradise.
  • My nephew lives in Neutral Bay which is north, I think.:(

    Ah yes.

Neutral Bay is directly north of the harbour: it's where the Harbour Bridge touches the north shore.

When I said north I meant about 100-150kms north of there on the Central Coast. That's the first area that is north of Sydney that is distinctly not Sydney.

In English terms it's a bit like saying that there's a storm to the north of London. I'm thinking Lincoln, you're thinking Soho.
  • You can tell I have never been there, can't you? :)

Arrrgh!!!!! They've done it again. My eyes.

Why fix what isn't broken. All change is bad.

Either I missed it (again) or I've changed my settings!

Thanks! Did manage to find where my user profile was eventually and changed back. Ghastly design. They say it's more something or other but I disagree. So much so that can't even remember it was more of other than repulsive. :o

Aargh! I just used that link as it seems I have chosen the old version at some point in the distant past.

I'm on the new one. It's trippy

The trees down the road are noticably greening up now.

Existing users can select the old site.

I never see the new site during these tests as I explained to Mse it triggered my neurological symptoms and I would have to stop using new site if it looked like that. Scrolling was impossible because of the light/dark situation creating 'flashing' type sensation. If its so difficult for me I thought it would be as difficult for others with some neurological problems, particularly epilepsy, other seizure/visual stimuli issues, and migraine sufferers.

I am really grateful Mse seem to have excluded me from tests etc from then on, but the feedback from them is that new sign up people will not be able to choose alternative skins. While my neurological problems are somewhat rare, suffering to neurological patients induced by flashing sensations like those induced by flashing of light against dark aren't so I hope they have a lower contrast background for new users. I was not opposed to the change or cleaner look. While I resist change by nature I agree this site looks a bit dated and could do with review. I just feel sad for anyone excluded or suffering especially since Mse have kindly acknowledged I have an issue with using the brighter, whiter site. I'm special, :) but not THAT special. ;)

I found the new site very glarey, and as ME/CFS patients go I am not particularly light sensitive. I'm just so relieved could get back to the old style site, though the green across the top has disappeared and it's pale blue now.

The cops helicopter has been faffing around overhead for what seems like ages. About 20 mins I think. We had to shut windows as it was too loud to think. It seems to be going round in circles. <roll eyes>

Oh well, back to Holby City! :o

We are going to a jazz concert that night locally.

We also thought we would have a meal out. Now, where would a sophisticated, cosmopolitan man like fir like a meal? Obviously we are on a budget now, but.....free choice.....where would he go.....big puppy dog eyes ?

' I think I'd like to go to a Harvester'. Oh yeah. I married in to sophistication alright. He likes new experiences. We went to the harvester style 'pub' services somewhere once, and is said to him, 'this is like a harvester' and he thought it was brilliant. He's wanted to go to a 'real' harvester ever since.
