Arrived safely in Northampton although we did get caught up in a traffic jam at Cambridge. Thought there had been a major crash as there was so many ambulance and police (plus an air ambulance) but turns out it was a truck load of illegal immigrants in a lorry.

Not looking forward to the journey home, way behind schedule and now worried about catching rush hour traffic.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Back in Hertfordshire!

The post that needs thanking, for those that want to vote for Zag, in a competition I didn't know existed, in a part of MSE that I hadn't ever visited is here:

    Gifts. I give up.

I had two piles. Stuff I'd gone out/traipsed around to find.

But, to post them, needed boxes. Boxes I had (bought in the past for similar reasons) weren't the right size.

Went out.... bought two boxes - no idea what size they were. I had the dimensions printed on them, but I can't visualise it so picked one that looked smallish - and the other one I needed for something that was 30cm x 30cm and pretty flat (probably 5mm) for depth.

So, back at the car, building the s0dding boxes in the boot of the car, I assembled the larger one, which had one dimension I understood it'd fit .... and it was the size of a small planet (35cm x 45cm x 16cm I think it said). So that was abandoned. Then traipsed round every shop possible in two areas, trying to find "something like a fat pizza box", to no avail.

I also realised that I couldn't stick the things I'd got for the small box into the small box as the small box also needed taping up/taping together/securing.

So it was back home ..... Gifts for the small box JUST squeezed in .... as for the other one, I tossed all the "other gifts" into the corner of the room and gave up, so just wrapped up the slim item I had in brown paper and parcel tape. Pfft.

What an utter annoying waste of time and nonsense posting stuff off is. Whatever you've got, there's no box that fits - and you've no idea how much it weighs either. Took my parcel to the PO and I had no idea, I thought it "weighed quite a lot" ....and expected them to look at me and say "£15", at which point I'd have snatched it back. Scales said it weighed 1.3Kg so it was £5.50 1st class or £2.80 2nd. It went 2nd.

Hate Xmas, hate presents, hate boxes, hate the post, hate the nuisance, hate it all.... hate, hate, hate.

    Having a right bad day.

And a very, very merry Xmas to you, dear PN! :D
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Best done sitting at a table, not sitting on the floor half-cross-legged.... which you only realise once you've finished and are crippled and bent over. I had that earlier.
I use the ironing board for wrapping my presents. Can be adjusted to the correct height. Slightly more of a challenge for very large presents; easily solved by buying smaller presents.

Careful with the box collecting if you've got hoarder tendencies (I've got form on that one). Have a pretty impressive collection of tissue paper too (can usually get loads of gold/ silver/ red tissue paper very cheaply in Jan - works well for wrapping all year round).

Bought my last presents this evening. Two that were ordered online are yet to be delivered, then that's me all sorted out. Phew!

I find it hurts my throat....I'll get me coat.

Did 'big' presents for the kids over the year - pretty lucky as haven't achieved anything else during December - it is going to look pretty bare under the tree and in the stockings.
    I think....
