How easy is it to find Kosher meals in ordinary restaurants and what about compliance with plates etc. How do you feel assured or comfortable.
We are comfortable with our level of observance. We will eat most fish and veggie food in most restaurants and don't worry too much about what may previously have been eaten off the same plates. This does mean that our kosher standard is higher at home; we live with that. In the same way that we accept that our children have their own standards when not with us.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Isn't the problem with Xmas jumpers that you can only wear them in this time of year and need a new one each year? So don't want to spend fortunes?
Cost per outing for Xmas jumpers must be high.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I prefer Star Trek too. Though that is based on the fact that I've not seen a single Star Wars film.
I saw the original one at the cinema, somehow my nan managed to get tickets to a premier in London and took me and my brother along. All I can really remember of the night is the red carpet and lots of people.
Ex hubby took James to a midnight showing of the first prequel, I warned him James would fall asleep (he wasn't very old at the time), sure enough, James fell asleep and ex hubby was not impressed.
The only one I have seen all the way through was the original one, have seen a fair bit of the next two although never in one sitting and none really of the new franchise.
Youngest is a huge fan, he has many rare books connected to it....books that a friend was offering to take to the tip when we were sorting his room for the new bed. He couldn't quite comprehend that books could have value....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

People who are staunchly orthodox in their beliefs simply would never eat in an ordinary restaurant.
As with all things religious, there are graduations. Some people would eat in a strictly vegetarian restaurant, for example. Whilst others might eat vegetables or fish in an ordinary restaurant.
If you recall the film Chariots of Fire, one of the runners refused to take part in an Olympic race on a Sunday because of his Christian beliefs, whilst other Christians might think that OTT.
In response to Gen's question whether ordinary Jews might ignore dietary rules because they didn't have the cash required. The answer is yes, and in fact they are instructed by their religion to do so if the alternative is to starve to death. The only quibble is that the word ignore is wrong. They would break the rules, whilst being fully aware of what they were doing. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I prefer something I've seen to something I've never seen. Hmm.
No need for Xmas jumpers here. Christmas T-shirt is more the thing. A bit of tinsel round the top of the sunscreen is good if you like tinsel with sunscreen smeared all over it for Christmas. I can't say I'm much of a fan.
We had some pretty mental storms here today. We even had tornadoes apparently!!!

I don't like it ... and by the time you've bought these things you need you might as well have just bought a jumper!

Couple of quid for a pom pom maker, £1 or so for a wool needle, £2 or so for some cheap wool, £2 for other bits/bobs .... probably £3-4 for parking/fuel driving round trying to find those things .... it all adds up.
It also depends on how you value your time and sanity for something that, as silvercar points out, is unlikely to be worn much at all. You'll spend more time making it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

With daytime temps here of 15+ and not much cooler at night there is no need for Christmas jumpers here either in this post global warming 'winter'. In theory it is a good thing as it means the heating bill is much lower but I can't help thinking that is missing the bigger picture. Global ecosystems are inherently complex and we just assume that they will 'revert to mean' to the extent that any changes will be gradual enough for humanity to adjust rather than some nasty binary impact (death of the bees for example) cropping up and changing everything overnight.I think....0 -
