I must admit I love their sausage rolls and mince pies0

They showed "2001 - A space odyssey" on BBC4 last night; probably because it was a current theme.
Am I the only one who finds it boring, and slow paced, and poor acting/dialogue?
Mind, I'm not a Star Wars fan either.
It is a slow film but I enjoy it.
I'm afraid Dave, I'm afraid. My mind is going...
We had lunch with a broker today. OMG the food was good.
We had an entire spit roast suckling pig with mashed spuds and roast veggies.
The wine was pretty bloody special too. Thanks Broker!0 -

I did think, last week in the town, that I'd get (maybe) a hot sausage roll for lunch, but I then realised that the shop's at one end of the High Street and the 99p shop was at the other end, alongside the passage leading to where I'd parked the car.... so I wasn't going to walk all the way back to see what they had/hot/for sale.
I've probably had 3 items from them in total, ever. Max. I remember a hot festive bake in about 2008 - and a hot pasty in 2013. Probably had something at some other time too.
Ever been to Pound Bakery PN?
They make Greggs seem upmarket!!
2 pies of pasties for a pound. God knows what goes into them.

Embarassing moment chez Kab.
I was speaking to an agent called Lottie on the phone, whilst Lottie our puppy was sat here in the study.
This triggered some crossed line comms.
"Put that slipper down Lottie! Get off the chair! Ooops, not you!"0 -

It's worth remembering that for a billion kids the choice of Christmas food is going to be lentils and rice or.....nothing at all.
I'm very happy to discuss poverty but if you want to tackle it in any kind of serious way then you need to look outside the UK.0 -
Bad parenting tip number 1254: Bribe your children to do what you want and then when they give in feel bad.
DS2 announced that he is going to the GF family for a few days next week. (More on that later.) He says he is driving. I'm not happy with him driving the Aygo on the motorway for 200 miles. He says he has driven a pick-up truck in America and is more than capable and the train would be a hassle. I say that it is the 1 litre car on the motorway that is my concern, not his driving. (I should own up to paranoia here: my friend's sister was killed in a car accident on the motorway 25 years ago.)
I say I will pay his train fare but not petrol money and I will drive him 20 miles to direct train station. He replies (conversation is via text), "successful bribe".
I shouldn't have bribed him, he is old enough to make own decisions. Either I should be capable of rational persuasion or I should let him be the adult he is. I shouldn't impose my irrationality on him. Bad mummy award.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Continuing....advice needed.
DS2 is going to be with GF family over Xmas. Should he give a general present to all the family? Individual presents for each member of the household/ their extended family?
In context I have received a chanukah present from DS2-GF. Flowers in a box arrived with a sweet note. (Told you she was nice!)
I am slightly peeved that DS2 is going to be away. We don't really celebrate Xmas, but his brother will be home and it is nice to have the family together, now DS1 is going to moan that it is boring being home with no brother around and the house will be less jolly with the noisy child missing. Plus board games for 4 people work less well than for 3.
I can see the logic of him going there, she isn't going to miss Xmas with her family and I suppose they want to be together, but I do like to have both my chicks in the nest.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Driving on an emptyish motorway in the early hours is a completely different proposition to driving in rush hour through a busy stretch.
Then throw in the fact that experience with the stretch of road plays a big part in the safety.
Chuck in the exuberance of youth; the additional confidence we all have at that age; sometimes the lack of maturity to deal with situations.
It's not questioning the ability of DS2 here. I sometimes think other road users don't give you the time and space you sometimes need. They are quick to judge IMO.
I think you did right, but perhaps plan in a practice session in the early hours to go somewhere.0
