I have an ancient CRT TV which still works (just). My parents changed their TV etc. a few years ago, and gave me their old flatscreen TV. It's still upstairs in the spare room, until the ancient one gives up the ghost.PasturesNew wrote: »I found Fanny!!

Hope you get it fixed soon.
After lots of holding on I was then directed to lodge a disputed transaction om Monday via premium rate number.
How things have changed. Previous unidentified transactions had always been treated as potential cloned card and steps taken to stop the risk of more transactions. OH once had huge spend on a cloned amex card- transactions in two different US cities on Christmas Eve. Yesterday I was happy for my card to be cancelled but no such luck!.
I have worried today, however nothing else is showing and I will just have to call tomorrow as directed0 -

I had a fraudulent transaction on my credit card with Transport For London a couple of years ago which turned out to be someone buying season tickets and having them delivered by mail. It seems a particularly stupid sort of fraud to commit to me but I expect the police don't have the resources to chase it up.0 -

I wonder whether there's some sort of known problem at the bank's end where accounts are being charged incorrectly...?
This stuff gets taken very seriously over here.0 -
Again, given leccy usage this may be a false economy.
.I concur. A CRT's a bit of a gas-guzzler I'd be tempted to send it for recycling. This isn't like car scrappage.
You're both right, I guess. But I'm a sentimental old fool, and I bought it with money from a bequest. I don't think it will last forever as the volume level needs to be higher for the same output.0 -

I also need the TV on more loudly these days. :rotfl:No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

...
I had a problem with fraudulent transactions with a well known credit card quite some years back.
I too got shifted from pillar to post initially, which irked me. I was told to write in and expect it to take weeks.
I rang back instead several times. From different conversations I got the first name of the Fraud team leader; the direct number of the fax machine nearest to him; and the contact details of a person sitting near to this fax machine. It's all social hacking
Then I rang this lad direct. He hadn't been out of Uni long, and had never even owned a credit card, never mind being defrauded. He sounded stressed out.
I empathised with his predicament before indicating I would be calling him every day for weeks until my issue was resolved !!
Interestingly, my issue was pushed to the top of the pile !
You have to become a nuisance!0
