We went to see Spectre this evening. I feel a little bit invincible, like James Bond. Anyone could start a fight now, and I'd have them. Bish bosh!

It's funny what films do to you sometimes. :o

Got tickets for the Aussie preview on the 10th. $10 including a choc top (a kind of ice cream), popcorn and fizzy drink.

It'll be $10 well-spent. Took DS there a few days back. Very enjoyable, keep your eyes out for nods to old Bond films.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Its so quiet here nowadays...

Anyway, I know tea in London has come up a few times and wanted to suggest somewhere I would not personally have thought of. On the ground floor of the Shard is a patisserie called Lang. We did not have cream tea there but considering up the location I was amazed at how peaceful Lang was, it was almost surreal how it was so well sound insulated. The apricot white tea was delectable and we had different patisserie each. The Halloween special ones were gorgeous to look at, creepy little jack o lanterns. That its at a point. Good for travel and stuff is also a bonus.

Still annoyed we could not get places for the Sanderson Alice teas though!

I was just about to ask where everyone was!
We have been to Rome for a long weekend, got back a couple of hours ago. Had never been there and always wanted to go.
Lovely sunny warm weather (no fog..) - I don't do hot weather but this was just nice.
The driving in Rome is certainly something else! We didn't drive but were driven some of the time. I either had my eyes shut or wide open in amazement most of the time.
We saw loads but obviously still loads left to see. Need a few days to recover now!
Arrived back a little more than an hour late due to knock-on fog delays. Massive queues at Heathrow for the re-booking desk and loads of hotel vouchers for the night being handed out. So glad that wasn't us.

You were lucky, S and B-IL had their BA flight from Palma cancelled. so they rebooked with sleazyjet to Gatwick. They had to pay extra fro luggage because the BA luggage size is larger and their luggage was too big for easyjet; then the flight was delayed by 5 hours. They finally got home at 4am, 12 hours lated than planned.

debt collectors....ground rent arrears that were cleared on purchase......That is what I thought, but the freeholder or their agents, are refusing to accept that they should bear the costs of their error and our solicitor is saying that either he fights this (that incurs a cost to us) or we pay it.

He is suggesting that it would be cheaper for us and less hassle just to pay it. :(

A small update. I asked my solicitor to send me a copy of the clear balance statement, if I am taking this forward. Looked at it and saw that it was for the same number flat in the adjacent block. So basically, vendor's solicitor cleared arrears on completion but the amount was credited to the wrong account. Vendor's solicitor didn't spot it, my solicitor didn't spot it. Don't know who will end up footing the debt collection charges. Who is liable for the error? Who should have spotted it? How do I get whoever to take responsibility?

Not you. What happens if you just tell them it's nothing to do with you so what on earth makes them think you should have anything to do with bailing them out? (other opinions are available).

Problem is the debt collection charges are against our account, so either someone has to pay them (me/ my solicitor/ seller's solicitor) or the management company has to agree to remove the charges.

Who credited it to the wrong account? The management co?

If so I think that they should take some responsibility for this. You shouldn't jump in and send round debt collectors quite so quickly anyway. I'm a director of a RMC and we have set protocols for this that have to be followed. This involves sending out a reminder before taking additional action. If they sent round the debt collectors without first issuing a reminder, well that's cracking a nut with a sledgehammer. It is precisely to pick up issues like this that you send a reminder. And that costs an envelope, a stamp and a bit of admin; not a big bloke with a van.

Trick or treat was good, kids came back with about six months worth of sweets or chocolates now half eaten and we got rid of a lot of passed date ferero rocher and milk tray.

Last night we ended up in a&e with ds as called 111 when we couldn't get his nose to stop bleeding an after an hour and because he was getting pain in his sinus they said he had to be seen. Of course by the time we had got him ready to go the bleeding had stopped and apart from a small relapse when the doctor showed us how we should have been squeezing his nose he has been fine since.

Having been up between midnight and 3am and with a horrible fluey cold I had the day off today which gave me the chance to finish up DD1s homework.
    I think....
