I am going to be eligible for the Freedom Pass soon. I'm not sure that it's cause for celebration, though. A bit of a landmark. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

In john lweis today I thought I recognised asomeone at another table as someone I was a student with. At risk of embarrasing myself I approached her. She recognised me and we chatted for a while in the way that long lost friends do. She telling me of her children's academic achievements, me not asking after husband, she had an arranged marriage and it was clear after a year, to her and her parents that it was not the best for her.I did not like to be nosey and enquire . She had stayed in touch with a few fellow students and told me she had been to the funeral of a mutual friend , he had died in house fire a couple of years ago. I watched as the scales fell from her eyes and and she remembered he had been my boyfriend.
He was my first love. I know that he had become alcoholic, and only hope he was unconscious at the time of his death rather than fighting a losing battle for his life. I had quite a lump in my throat, for the loss and lost potential of a funny, good looking young man who enabled me to lighten up, and taught me to give and recieve love.in the last 10 years he had tried to make contact with me a couple of times but I knew his marriage had ended and I had no wish to rekindle anything .
Feeling a bit sad tonight,I will make enquiries of others to see if it is Ok to write to his mum, or if it is now too late. What would \np do?0 -
I would write to his mother. Probably. Perhaps. But try to find out as much as possible about the position and their relationship first.
Hopefully, he was not aware of what was happening to him.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Locally it really pees me off. We have London red buses, have a train station that is within London zone 6 for ticketing purposes yet are excluded from both the tfl60+ and the Freedom Pass. Our kids were also excluded from the 16-18 yr old transport cards.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It seems incredible, but it is being widely reported that the first firefighters on the scene in Tianjin pumped as much water as they could onto the calcium carbide, thus turning a fairly routine blaze into a major catastrophe. Water reacts with calcium carbide to produce highly inflammable (and in the right conditions highly explosive) acetylene gas. It was only after the explosion that they switched to using foam.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
