The best man's speech usually comes after the bridegroom's toast to the bridesmaids. I remember a best man's speech once that began something like this:
"Traditionally the best man's supposed to reply on behalf of the bridesmaids, so I'd like to start by thanking you for saying ... " and then quote something the bridegroom has just said, such as "how pretty I look in my dress" or "how helpful I was getting the bride dressed this morning" etc.
If necessary, you can liaise with the bridegroom to make sure he feeds you something that will make this particularly funny.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Please no talk about weddings, MiL has asked when we're getting married several times in the last week, and bearing in mind we've lived together nearly 14 years, the answer to that is probably never......
Had an email asking about CC charges (will put in the appropriate forum in a minute). Details given as 5 charges in 4 months, all 'breaches' under £12 (highest is £6ish), 4 due to interest, person formerly homeless. May be an interesting one to fight, but I'm quite looking forward to this. I've spoken to client on the phone about 20 minutes ago and said I'll put a letter together, just wonding NP's thoughts on this, especially as enough interest is paid as it is.
Going through 900ish emails in the last 10 days in order received, most of them will be rubbish though)
Oh, and I get back and it's raining, brilliant news.....💙💛 💔0 -
What do you mean DQWD? No way should that story be deleted.
Sorry about the tooth. Hopefully, the dentist can build it up again.
The tooth should be fine.
I definitely would prefer that you didn't quote me when I ask that you don't. This thread doesn't really work for me otherwise.
I'm glad you like the story, I think it's a good one, but I didn't want it to be quoted.0 -

Perhaps he feels that people who know him would remember the incident and be able to identify him???
Or there are people IRL who know his screen name, but he wouldn't want them to know about the story???
Just guessing.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Indeed. I don't want to be mean to a poster, especially one that I hold in high esteem, but I think each of us should be able to say that we want something not to be quoted and then have that respected.
Anyhoo, I'm off to bed soonish and I have no doubt whatsoever that this will all be resolved by (my) morning.0 -
Consultant phoned me this evening to get some more details, so very speedy.
I walked 2.8 miles last evening and did the first 2 miles in 51 minutes. lightening speed!
Afterwards I had a pedicure and manicure ( my equivelent of a beer).
I go walking a lot, and most of the people I see are not going any faster than your 2 miles in 51 minutes. Of course, some people are out there running, and some are power walking, but most people are not doing more than two mph.
I love your version of a beer! That's brilliant.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Ah, a bit of a misunderstanding there. I kept an eye on your original post, which is still up in its entirety, so I thought it was probably okay to quote it. Anyway, I've now amended my post. Sorry. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
