Just taken DD shopping for uniform for her new school. So much more expensive than primary school uniform! She looks very smart in it, though, or at least she will once I've taken up the sleeves of the blazer.
The school uniform tax is one of my pet hates. You are forced to pay 3 times as much for mediocre quality clothing just because it is in some way (logo or design) unique to the school and can only be purchased from 1 supplier.

We have purchased online in multiple sizes and will return what doesn't fit. We find this much less trying than spending hours in a crowded shop.
    I think....

Off to the beach in five minutes. Lucky us as it is only a five minute walk away.

I have the opposite view, it removes the need for hours of decision making on what to wear each day and means they don't need so many other clothes.

Ah yes, the famous Luxembourg Riviera (think I might have missed a post or two!).

I've got a crappy cold, chipped a tooth that has cut my tongue and have to have stupid cancer checks. I'm in a filthy mood.

I've gone for a beer which is going to make me a couple of minutes late to collect the Generalissimos and I frankly don't care.

    Good luck with yours!

Assuming the rep is working for another similar company, thus trying to impress everyone here. The only answer I can give to that is that it doesn't work.

Well, we'll make the best of a bad job for our delegates, but I think I'll be drafting the evaluation questions so I shall make sure that it gives our lot the opportunity to say exactly what they think of that element ... mwahahaha

We are leading an earlier session, so at least all is not lost.

Am now on the train down to visit parents until Saturday. I've paid to upgrade to First class - free WiFi and food. I've just got posh apple juice, 2 Danish type pastries (could have had croissants or toast instead), and await the bacon butty (could have had porridge, granola with yoghurt and fruit, or fruit instead). I like travelling Virgin East Coast

Thanks for that. I'm traveling First to Berwick upon Tweed, with Virgin East in three weeks time. It's my annual walking group holiday which I organise. They'll be seven of us, but most are driving up. If I'd driven I would have to had pick pick a bloke up in East London, so a journey time of over eight hours.Instead, I have a short train journey to London, then a three and a half hour journey from Kings Cross. Something to eat, a chilled glass of Chardonnay while listening to music on my iPod.....

........Luxury......and a third off with my old gits Railcard :money:

Have a fab time. Unfortunately no plonk on offer at this time of day, but I took care to ensure my return journey leaves at teatime ...

Don't get me wrong, I am all in favour of uniform, just object to bespoke uniform that costs x times as much as generic versions of the same thing.

    LOL.

I took a train a few weeks ago that one person managed to fill an entire double seat with his girth which I thought was a good effort.

I think he might have been unwell in some way. He looked not very well and not just because he was fat.

I found out recently that there is only a few hundred grams in difference between the skeleton of someone who has heavy bones and someone who has light bones at any given height.

That was a bit of a non-sequitur. Sorry about that.

I discovered today that 90+% of studies funded by the food industry find that sugar doesn't make you fat whilst 90+% of studies not funded by the food industry find that sugar makes you fat (to simplify the findings).

I love that my job makes a discovery like that a good thing rather than an annoyance.:j
