Re: sporting events - One year the annual "Show" in the local park included a gymkhana, so I went along to watch, never having been to one. (I had all the "Jill" books when I was a child :D Sadly riding lessons were out of reach.)

Unfortunately it had been sited right next to the fun fair. The poor horses and ponies were so unnerved by the blaring fairground music that none of them would do what they were supposed to do, they just wanted to be somewhere quiet!

Oddly enough they never had a gymkhana at the annual show again......

And now we don't even have an annual show any more because the council have deemed the conditions in the park unsuitable (London clay, gets boggy very quickly when it rains.) :(

It never gets easier....just more frequent

I've found this too. First family one was 2012, and several more since then.

In the lucky position of working today, but not working. About to meet a friend, as I need to get my hands on about £50k for 5 days (major account payment needs to go out today, major account payment will come in on Monday, can't really ask the company to wait as they're a lot bigger than us) and doing it through banks is definitely going to be cost prohibitive.

Worked out I can give him £1k on top, and the cost of borrowing is still £1k cheaper/2 days faster than HSBC can do, to the extent that the money can be with me later today, instead of Friday morning.

Banks really need to wise up!

Someone needs to tell all the other London Boroughs holding festivals and country shows!?! I mean, given that they're all on London clay. Cancel all the fun!

I'd have thought a company being much bigger is the best reason to wait until Monday. Small companies can't cope.

If you have this kind of cash flow issue then wouldn't invoice factoring be more sensible than short term loans?

Borrowing off mates to keep a company afloat, however short term, isn't good.

You'd be surprised how often this happens at 'the big shows'. One of the biggest show grounds in the country ALWAYS puts the donkeys next to the tiny children's ponies classes ( lead rein and first ridden etc). Lots of ponies/horses are terrified of donkeys. These ponies are meant to be safe for their little riders, as well as beautiful but it seems a risky test of them with tiny jockeys experiencing ring nerves ( its an early in the season show). They also went through a phase of having a man who flew through the air in a tiny plane with geese following him and honking. Some of those kids and ponies had no chance. No chance at all.

This is the first (and probably only) time we needed it, and is largely because we've had a really expensive month (company purchase, order for another 5 vans, conversion of 4 vehicles that arrived last montHe etc etc)

Everything is usually paid/settled at the same time, and at next week the company should be operating healthily again.

If we had a need for the facilities on a day to day basis, then it would be there, but non-cash assets each month show as about 140% of liabilities, with clients only paid where we are.

PN, I wonder if you are deficient in nutrients that might not support you being less anxious. I wonder, for example, how much magnesium your diet has in it.

I've been so awake, yesterday it was a 'real boy, Gepetto!' but in the last twenty minutes I feel sleep coming in at the edges. I need to be awake tomorrow and Friday....I don't know.....do I fight now, do I rest now? Its always no win.....
