From memory I've been to see professional, semi-professional or good amateur level:

    - Football (soccer - International and club)
    - Football (American)
    - Football (Rugby Union - International and club)
    - Cricket (Test, ODI, T20, 1st class 4 day, 1st class ltd overs, 1st class T20)
    - Netball (International and club)
    - Cycling (road)
    - Tennis
    - Golf (kinda)
    - Fencing
    - Cross country running

I think that's it. I probably forgot one or two. Swimming and some more athletics perhaps...?

What about horse racing? Great day out, obvious nominated driver problems in the UK though.

I really like tennis, which I didn't previously mention, I used to go to Wimbledon every year but when I paid £500 for a pair of tickets (about 10 years ago), I switched to Eastbourne.

Its not essential to drink when racing. Somee of us even , shock horror, go outside and watch horses, and go down to the paddock.

I'm not a huge fan myself, but I do allow myself to be annually tortured by both Sunderland and Newcastle's relegation skirmishes. I much prefer cricket, although I only tend to follow England (so no torture free zone there either).

Ooh. Do/ did you live up there? Any recommendations for somewhere nice for dinner and/ or the 'must see' sights in Newcastle/ Gateshead? I'm heading there for a wedding but will have some time to waste.
So far I've got the Baltic Centre on my list...

And if you do want to drink 8 bottles of champagne etc then there are racecourses near train stations, like ascot and sandown.

I forgot to watch Supershoppers, Ch4 at 9pm, so watching the end now then I'll turn over to 4+1.

I expect to be disappointed/annoyed, but there might be good rant-worthy content that can be followed in Discussion Time.

    :)

Ive been continuing my theme of fun filled evenings. Tonight was mowing the lawn. Started cooking and heard supershoppers start.
Looked at what I was prepping (all bargain stuff) and figured I could skip watching it :)

Programmes like that usually annoy me too. We had some 'financial education' sessions at work recently (basically trying to encourage us to take advantage of the things our employer offers outside of salary). He got a point for trying and that was about it.

Last 15 minutes was dull - not about shopping/saving at all. It was all health stuff about milk and guts... and then blood/omega 3. So I'm not going to watch it on 4+1.

How to Get a Council House on 4 now instead.

That was a different programme :)

Similar title though (superfoods or something like that).

On the subject of sports, one of the most unexpectedly fun days out I have had was watching wheelchair rugby. It's absolutely brutal and played at one heck of a pace. I went to see it with an open ticket at the paralympics but enjoyed it so much I would definitely go again.

I've been to football, F1, athletics, basketball, cycling (track), archery, speedway, British Superbikes, Drag Racing, American football, Aussie Rules, beach volleyball, sailing and rowing (Henley). Probably some other sports too that I've forgotten. I think at some point I'm going to baseball, though am expecting not to be very excited at that. I'd also like to go to Moto GP.

In terms of watching sport on TV: stuff with engines, athletics, cycling plus the football World Cup. I quite like rowing, swimming and diving when there are big competitions on.

Oh. I'd scribbled it in my diary as Ch 4, so just switched to that channel.... can't read the telly/teletext from here as it's too small/far, so I just trusted what I'd written down.

    Supershopping was 8 to 8.30, Superfoods 8.30 to 9 :)
    Not surprising you got confused!

I'm from there, but I haven't lived up there for decades, so sorry can't help you.

I'd say that I have only drank at about 0.01% of race meetings that I have attended, I do like a drink, but working (as a racecourse bookmaker) and drink definitely do not mix, not to mention driving back home.
