Wasn't there something recently about mix of sugar/carbs and fat was the biggest problem?
.
Sugar and fat in combination is very difficult to stop eating. In studies ( animal based, usually rats) the subjects will find they eat more and develop greater appetite on such diets.
This was picked up on one of those recent food programmes ( maybe a horizon?) where they noted that things like icecream ( essentially half cream and half sugar) can pose big problems.
Otoh, eating sugar as part of a meal including other things can buffer the sugar spike somewhat. :rotfl: ( won't stop it being too much sugar, but does provide some endurance beyond the eating event)
I really feel for those that don't have problems moderation is the key, avoiding excess snCking/sugary drinks for dental health and avoiding too much stuff that cannot be made my a farmer and a cook who have no access to a factory. I think some flexibility does the soul good, for those whose health allows, so I'm all for puddings at weekends, and stuff.
Deprivation is not the cure, being too rigorous in deprivation causes as many problems as it solves, ( I don't know if my metabolism would be quite so fxcked up were I don't such a famine/feast fan) and variety is extremely healthy.0 -

So, its hospital week at last. I still have a few days, and I've finally decided on what to wear ( on my body) but not yet chosen shoes.
.......deleted mental breakdown rant.
Why should this be so stressful......I just want them not to look at my clothes and look at my health and me.0 -
Spent the weekend starting to research and collate all sorts of visa application forms and the associated paperwork now that the route planning for 2016 is starting to firm up.
I really very much dislike paperwork. With a passion.
Having just renewed the first passport also realised the second one has now expired, so now that needs to be renewed as well, and will have to apply for a second one for Mrs McT, and then start with all the visas, and.......“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Good luck Hamish, just think of the good time you're both going to have with those passports
Lir, hope this week goes well for you and that the most you have to worry about is your shoes. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Strangely auto correct wanted to change Gaydar to Baghdad, one of its more quirky solutions.
Ooh - good call. Might give Gaydar a go next timePasturesNew wrote: »...

I couldn't shoo him out so I've left him some water and will try again tomorrow0 -
He's already had the option to self shoo
And I'll have to stay watching to make sure he goes!
He is quite cute, but he jumped out at me tonight and gave me quite a fright. I'd rather see him outside.
Spiders I can cope with. I have zero amphibian experience. But no, I wouldn't fancy swapping0 -

Well given the number of [STRIKE]third world[/STRIKE] developing nation border crossings they'll be used for, you may have an entirely different definition of "good time" than me......:o“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Are there still lots of countries where you'd need a separate (extra) passport nowadays? I remember a few decades ago if you visited a few countries you'd have a second one but I thought that was a thing of the past. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
