Re: Diet
I was diagnosed as Diabetic Type 2 (fat bloke) on 13th April with a HbA1c test of 88 (10.5%)
I cut out virtually all carbs (bread, spuds, pasta etc etc) and replaced the missing calories with fat.
I have lost over 2 stone in weight and my HbAic test from July was 32 which is totally non diabeteic.
Carbohydrate is the enemy folks.
It will kill you !!!!!
I had lost almost 3 stones and expected a health dividend. No such luck.
My last hba1c result brought a call from my GP to tell me my levels were "off the scale" . I asked what he meant and he replied "Over 100%". I was given a different drug which I have been taking for 3 months so due to take another hba1c. iknow it whas improved but is still high as my own testing and recent in patient testing results are all quite high.
latest cholesterol test has brought a call from the surgery to say my hdl/ldl balance is too high. I have to see a GP next friday.
BMI is in normal range, I eat oily fish every day, only eat red meat a couple of times a week, etc. Recent dieteryadvice from GP is to reduce the amount of fruit I eat and to eat more salt. One
to lower diabetes level the other to correct low sodium. Metabolically I am a mess.0 -
It never rains....
have just had to order some graffiti removing stuff, owing to artwork appearing on the house...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Great achievement Purch...but don't you just feel hungry without the carbs?
School hols have started, it was warm and sunny today so I am calling it officially as summer and listening to songs like this.
The protein keeps the hinder pangs at bay.
After my Big Friday Evening out shopping MSE-style, I've been having a Big Saturday Night in cleaning :rotfl: It doesn't feel so bad with the radio on (Giles Peterson then Craig Charles on 6music, now Kisstory).
I've finally started to tackle my bedroom. Is been a state since lodger 2 moved in as I was storing a sofa bed in here, and ended up away a lot for work (bad habit of just tipping out my suitcase on the floor.... Or worse just leaving it there). A colleague is giving me a lovely Edwardian wardrobe, so time to make space.
Ooh a classic now. Chaka Demus and Pliers! (Probably spelt that entirely wrong)0 -

I think the sound of me vacuuming at random times of night would put most people off hereIf that wasn't enough, a least a couple of my neighbours I really wouldn't want to mess with. And no rights of way between houses on my bit of the road helps.
But no, I wouldn't like it either.0 -

[STRIKE]Carbohydrate[/STRIKE] Refined carbohydrates are the enemy folks as they cause a spike in blood sugar, lightly or unrefined carbohydrates (brown bread, brown rice etc) are an important part of a balanced diet.

Happy to help as ever purch.0 -

Classic.
I found a Christian radio station over here which has a Saturday lunchtime Rastafari show. They play some fantastic dub and dancehall interspersed with some awesome rants against Babylon.0 -

Are they actually doing anything wrong (petty vandalism, drinking underage, smoking, littering, making excessive noise) or are they just hanging out?
If the former then repeated calls to the police and complaints to council are the obvious way forward with a view to getting an injunction to move them away.
If not and you really want to get rid of them, £600 gets you this:

I wouldn't use it myself unless kids were causing genuine trouble but if they are making you feel uncomfortable then it is a legal solution to your problem.
Just wishing them away won't solve anything unfortunately and I would definitely counsel against starting an argument with them.0
