I've never heard of Kisstory before. Is it KISS golden oldies?
Actually, ignore the question, a quick Google tells me it is.
We used to have a brilliant pirate radio station in Staines. It wasn't run by the Staines Massive but it might as well have been.0 -
I listen to Gaydar while doing my cleaning... you can't beat 126bpm dance music for hoovering and tidying to, it makes me work faster.
Strangely auto correct wanted to change Gaydar to Baghdad, one of its more quirky solutions. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? . I'm wary of Nivea brand though as Nivea cream irritates my skin more than anything else I've tried yet.
I have the same problem with anything I've tried by L'Oreal. Weird.0 -
I attended the launch party for the station going legal in a park in Islington back in 1990. They were a pirate station before that which launched at the same time I moved from Nikksterville to London. It was an open air ticketless event btw, I don't have any insider connections.
I wish I could pretend to be ahead of the curve and been a fan before they were legit but there were so many pirate stations I stopped being able to tell them apart.

don't you just feel hungry without the carbs?
The idea of the Low Carb High Fat diet is that you compensate for the lost Carbs by eating more Fat.
The notion that Fat is bad for you has been disproved by numerous studies, and the original research in the 70's that led to the whole Low Fat craze has been shown to have been made up nonsense. Low Fat foods have lots of added sugar to compensate for the lost taste, and eating it will make you fat.
At last the idea that sugar is the big cause of many of our health problems is beginning to gain traction.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

and lemonjelly, sorry to hear about the graffiti
Re teens hanging about, I heard of one local council that stopped them loitering at a local parade of shops (and being rude to shoppers if they refused to buy them cigs) by playing classical music. The teens moved on because the music wasn't cool
One day when my son was still at school we went to a fish and chip shop in the town centre. In the pedestrianised area was a menacing-looking group of youngsters with hoodies, baseball caps, etc; I gave them a wide berth and made sure not to look at them as we passed. (In case they said " 'Oo are you lookin' at?")
On the way back to the car park, DS said "You go on back to the car mum, I'm just going to have a quick word with my mates!" :rotfl:
So they weren't actually scary at all - I knew his mates were nice lads as individuals - it's just that teens always look a bit unnerving en masse. Hopefully the ones on the wall are the same, Maggie, but I do understand it's worrying ((HUGS)) Might it be worth trying the classical music, if the weather's warm enough to have the window open?0 -

There was a debate on TV this AM about obesity and its causes. It was infuriating. There was a bunch of people arguing from political viewpoints about whether it was self-inflicted, and how rarely you see the very rich or very clever overweight.
The doctor then quietly pointed out that the evidence is that exercise makes dieters hungrier, social group 1 have excessively overweight males, and twin studies show that obesity is likely to be 50-80% genetic, involving appetite issues rather than metabolism. Will power might be part of the answer but lack of it's not the problem.
I sometimes think that science journalism (without the science, or too much input from weirdos with a good anecdote and selective attention) is the real issue here.

Pastures Is the soil very dry at the moment? If so, watering (or waiting until it's rained) it will soften it and make it much easier to use the fork.0

Probably - but if it's wet/mucky then I won't want to do it. I'll wait until it's rained hard and give it another go 2 days after that. I hate touching mud.0 -

I think there may be more to come re gut bacteria. Things like kids given antibiotics at young age, gut flora transplants, I think I have started putting on weight after the mega antibiotics I had when I had pneumonia etc.I think....0
