They have a history. Years ago we agreed to split the cost of tree work, we paid the tree man and they never reimbursed us their share.

Why on earth did you give them this opportunity to do it again?

Next door neighbour agreed to pay half the costs of replacement fence. I gave Mrs neighbour the bank account details of fence man. Mr neighbour came home from work and we chat over the new fence about what a good job the fence is. I tell him Mrs Neighbour has the bank details and he confirms he will send half the money.

Today I get a text from fence man to say neighbour hasn't paid up. I text Mrs neighbour (only mobile number I have) and tell her to liaise with fence man as I'm away and fence man can't see the payment from Mr neighbour. She texts back not to worry that she will check with Mr Neighbour. I paid my half.

I text fence man that I'm away but have texted neighbour.

I have a feeling I am going to get home next week to find fence man still unpaid. It was me that found this fence guy and gave him the go ahead, so I am the one obligated to see he gets paid. But if I pay the neighbours half I am unlikely to see the money back.

you're not alone, this happens to me every 10 years or so!

Maybe this is the golden opportunity to say "oh gosh that reminds me.... did you ever get round to giving me that money I paid for the tree work......"

If they don't pay, pour a couple of litres of gasoline over the fence and chuck a match on it.

    They'll get the message.

I don't know anything about that stuff. Didn't even know people needed magnesium, say.

I googled it. I eat beans .... they have it. Dried fruit, not really, except that was in the curry today. Nuts, I sometimes have a big bag of peanuts.

The difficulty is knowing whether that's enough magnesium?

I take one multivitamin tablet a day. They contain 100% of the recommended daily allowance of most common vitamins and minerals that I might need. I suspect that most of them are not necessary, but I have no way of knowing which are needed and which are not. The tablets cost around 3p a day from Boots. I'm happy to send you some if you like.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I've never been a pill popper. It's not something I've ever read up on, worried about, thought about or anything.

Cheers for the offer.... "I'll live" as they say, although maybe apparently not.

After a difficult week thus far with EAs being a pain in the whotsit, reaching point today when our sol phoned them up and told them they should have rung her not hassled us as she is paid to do this stuff...

    Exchange happened.

Money with our sols, will release as soon as get the signed stuff for Land Registry.

Another fail for purchasers sols - should have sent forms sooner.

Would not recommend our purchasers' sol, or our EA.

I feel sad and bereft. Elder daughter brought home from hospital birth to there. Younger daughter born in bedroom there - planned home birth.

I know good it's sold and gone and it's over, but still feel sad to say Goodbye after so many years... We moved in beginning of August 1973.

Sorry to hear you're feeling down about it Maggie, but I'm pleased for you that exchange has finally happened. I expect it's made it even worse by it all being dragged out so long.

    I recommend a G+T.
