My post yesterday about further inspection of rugs/upholstery would reveal filth proved prophetic as did the likely non MSE solution. £295 will get sofa, chairs and two rugs cleaned on Friday

I could go to Cardiff just to hear the singing.

The Millenium Stadium is an amazing place, and with the roof closed as it is for the Autumn Internationals (I was there for the Haka stand-off in 2008) the atmosphere is electric.

Quite how the Beeb manage to lose all that when they broadcast a match, especially when they are singing "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" is beyond me, they seem to have too many mirophoesn near the players and none for the crowd.

    WWYD:

Next door neighbour agreed to pay half the costs of replacement fence. I gave Mrs neighbour the bank account details of fence man. Mr neighbour came home from work and we chat over the new fence about what a good job the fence is. I tell him Mrs Neighbour has the bank details and he confirms he will send half the money.

Today I get a text from fence man to say neighbour hasn't paid up. I text Mrs neighbour (only mobile number I have) and tell her to liaise with fence man as I'm away and fence man can't see the payment from Mr neighbour. She texts back not to worry that she will check with Mr Neighbour. I paid my half.

I text fence man that I'm away but have texted neighbour.

I have a feeling I am going to get home next week to find fence man still unpaid. It was me that found this fence guy and gave him the go ahead, so I am the one obligated to see he gets paid. But if I pay the neighbours half I am unlikely to see the money back.

Go with Plan A. Assume it'll all get sorted/paid by the end of this week. Ignore it for now.

Someone needs to tell all the other London Boroughs holding festivals and country shows!?! I mean, given that they're all on London clay. Cancel all the fun!

Exactly! No one here is at all impressed, given that the council didn't pay for the shows, sponsors did! Though it is certainly true that most of our park (which has a river and lake in it) gets horrendously swampy and muddy after heavy rain and takes ages to dry out enough for visitors not to need wellies.

Agree. No point in assuming anything. If they say they are going to pay then the liklihood is that they will, not the other way.

Ask fencing man to drop in a formal invoice.

They have a history. Years ago we agreed to split the cost of tree work, we paid the tree man and they never reimbursed us their share.

Grrrrrrrrrr........ That sucks silver. Is it worth getting the invoice dropped in anyway, even if you may need to reach a tacit agreement with fence man to pay?

I sincerely hope that there won't be a third time. I'd want to take them down the small claims route if they were my neighbours.
