I am spending far too much time on this site.

I booked some airport parking on Monday for a short 4 day trip to Lisbon in the autumn.

Then yesterday I got a marketing email from the airport telling me all about their shiny new shops, but also telling me that if I booked car parking in July using the code July15 I could get 15% off.

So I went back and cancelled the first booking and rebooked, saving myself the princely sum of £ 3.17

I've never done anything like that ever before.

At this rate I'll be collecting coupons soon

He will be fine, the school will look out for him. he is with people he knows.

I know, I know.....that's why it is silly protective mum mode. I really need to relax a little more, not only is he in good hands but he is an adult too.

With James, I got it out of my system early on as he went on his first school residential trip when he was 11, then further ones through high school. Even before that, he was going on cub camps but Josh has never been allowed on anything like that (by the schools/cubs etc due to his needs)

He is downstairs learning Spanish at the moment...or should I say, re remembering Spanish as he used to be able to speak it when he was small! He'll probably forget it all before he goes though, he forgets how to speak English from time to time (and not in the chav way, he actually forgets the words) so the likelyhood of Spanish sticking in his brain for any length of time is negligable :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Been having several BBQ's lately.
Yesterday we had marinated chicken skewers, home made lamb burgers and sardines.
The sardines definitely were NOM NOM!!
I love the whole BBQ ritual. From pouring coal to just sitting there contented with a can of Jupiler while the meats slowly cook...looking out over my territory (garden) thinking life is not that bad....:)

We're about to go on our European tour and of course the Frenchies are striking again.
'Operation Stack', turning stretches of the M20 into lorry parking in place until at least Sunday. Boo!

Don't they ask about your job before lending?
I don't think you have to disclose an upcoming redundancy to your mortgage lender? I might be wrong about that of course.

Good luck lemonjelly, and what michaels said about silver linings and clouds.

So sorry to hear the news lemonjelly, but as michaels says, you aren't that thrilled with your job, so hopefully a more congenial one will come available just at the right time.

lir Sorry you're feeling rough :( Has your brain wandered off somewhere? I hate that.

Sue Of course you're worried! but I bet he'll have a wonderful time :)

I haven't told anyone, but I will, one way or the other, be mortgage free before christmas. At least I won't have to worry about that, thankfully.

I believe I'll get the statutory payout. No more.

I'd rather jump than be pushed. Guess it just means I'll be extra hardworking in applying for stuff over the summer.

Excellent result, do you also leave visible marks on the plates when washing up and creases (in the wrong places) all over the ironing? ;)

I can iron. OH always claims I don't stack a dishwasher efficiently, so he often takes over.

My deliberate inability is packing. I just pile the clothes up high in the centre of the suitcase and leave him distribute to level heaps - if I had done that with the BBQ coals we may have been OK.

Sorry to hear the news lj.

My business is also going through a major change, it was supplying one single product, rather successfully over the last 15 years. Now the supplier has stopped manufacturing, so that is it. Finished.

Lj take this bit of news as kickstart to serious looking at career direction/the life you want to lead.
Dont be afraid of failing/false starts.
        Have faith in yourself
      It is normal to worry.
People who have always known traditional working may try to put you off
You may go from savings to debt-you will get over it
Life may interrupt your plans. My OH was made redundant in late 1982. No huge payoff as his employer was American so fab pay when you were working for them but the least they could get away with on termination. He set up establishing himself independently and was ready to launch it at the Paris Air show in 1983. I screwed it up by needing an emergency by pass that day. After a few months of just chilling with me he started looking for jobs in his field, but really wanted to change direction and lifestyle. I spotted a job in the charitable sector in the back of the sunday times. It was a big downshift especially in salary. He knew nothing about the sector or its environment. He was short listed from 200 applicants and the rest is history. He now runs the charity and has a totally different working life. There were all sorts of risks, Financial, Cultural and he had another offer on the table more in keeping with his experience and much more money. He was worried about taking it and it took courage not to play safe. We went from having savings to a lot of debt during the time he was not working- It was a long lead time to change some of our outgoings. The debts got paid off when I came on here as a dfw. this is your chance to retrain, go part time, go it alone, change Direction. There is a book called "What colour is your parachute" by Richard N Bolles. I have the current edition but it is on loan to someone, otherwise I would send it. Or read Richard Bransons "screw it just do it" for inspiration
