Dear Jelly, I'm sure you will be fine. You are such a sensible person, you will do well whatever you decide to do. But I guess it's a bit of a worrying time for you despite my faith in you! So will be sending you The Vibes from my front garden tomorrow. (for some reason our front garden seems to be best place to send Vibes from)
In other news it looks like we may have completion old home on 10th July. (this year!)
So will be rather busy (completely freaking out) for the next few days.
Loadsofstuff to get out still! Eeeeeekkkk!0 -
Party bags - this Sunday is 11 year old boys and girls then Thursday week it is for 6 year olds and 9 year olds. Criteria 1, cheap but doesn't look it. Criteria 2 unusual. Any suggestions?
Minions just came out here so did a Minions theme. Minions Kinder Egg, banana, Minions bag of some crappy biscuit thing, banana flavoured sweets and a cup cake with a Minion on top.
Cheap and it worked because we went to see the movie for the party.0 -
There is a book called "What colour is your parachute" by Richard N Bolles.
Talking of colours and being laid off, when the American Bank I was working at in the mid 80's was bought by HSBC (or The Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation as it was called then) all the staff got letters in different coloured envelopes, the red on'e were made redundant immediately, right through to yellow one's who were staying on for the final 12 months before we were totally swallowed up. Me being me decided not to wait around for my paltry 4 months salary redundancy, and got a new job, only to find out 6 months later that I was one of only 2 traders that HSBC wanted to employ, so I could have been made redundant and then re-employed by HSBC.
There is a lesson to be leaned from that, but I'm not sure what it is.
Anyway, YelloJello, life always chucks stuff at you, but there will always be as many opportunities as there are disapointments. Never worry about what you could or should have done, just make the most out of what you are doing.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Thanks all. The vibes will be helping.
I'm more angry than anything else at the mo. I really should post elsewhere to describe why.
After my last experience/redundancy, I changed my work attitude severely. I realised that the important things happen outside of work, not at work.
I'd just like to earn enough to be able to afford to do the things I want to do.
All the roles I've done have been supporting/helping people. That is rewarding, I'd like to do something similar. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I've taken today off. The past few weeks have been tiring. Lots going on in and out of work. Lots of thinking about the future (I spent this week on a 'leadership' course. When I got the invite I assumed it was a mistake
).
My house is a tip. The garden isn't looking great either (the front in particular looks abandoned). I'm going to spend the day regaining some semblance of control then treat myself to a BBQ.0 -
Jellymeister. Sorry to hear your news.
Losing your job can be the best thing ever or the crappiest thing ever. It was the former to a few people I know and has been both to me.

Yesterday (Lennon-McCartney). Sung by Daffy Duck.
Blimming freezing here. It must be about 7C or something inhuman. It only got up to about 15C in the city today. When will this winter horror end? I had to go to work this morning in this weather. Flipping flip. Surely there must be laws against having to get out of bed when the temperature is in single figures.0 -

Glad you're safely home, Pastures. I hope it went as okay as possible considering the weather.
lostinrates Did you manage to make the almond pastry in the end?0 -
I've just remembered I'm really bad at lighting barbecues
On my second attempt, and have had to visit the shop across the road to buy more matches. *think* (and hope) it's on its way now. Otherwise the oven is going on.0
