I now have to acknowledge that only men can BBQ. Apparently spreading the coals out to equalise heat meant that they were never hot enough overall and allowing the marinade to drip onto the coals put some of them out.:(

The ironing pile is building up.....

(note this is the only job I refuse to do unless it's a quick iron for going out clothes)

I've gone into silly protective mum mode.....Josh is going off to Barcelona with the school in two weeks and we had the meeting last night for the itinery, rules etc.

I was fine until the meeting but now I have got all anxious about my 'little' boy getting confused while he is away and ending up lost. Ok, some of it is because he does find the world confusing and he does have problems with understanding verbal communications, short term memory etc but still, he is almost blooming 19!

I never got this worried over James but then James was like me, he has an excellent sense of direction, is resourceful and more importantly, can understand what people are saying to him without a simplified explanation.

On the plus side, he is performing twice, once on the beach on a bandstand and once in a square in Barcelona itself which is apparently, a tourist attraction. It will be a great experience for him, not just the performing but also the very thing of going away on a school trip, his first ever (he has never been allowed to before by any of the schools because of his needs)

Expect me to be a nervous wreck in two weeks time......

He will be fine, the school will look out for him. he is with people he knows.

Sue, I'm sure the school will contact you if there are any problems.

Just had a message with 'I'll help you, call me after 14h', nothing else. Feeling a lot better.....

I can barbecue, I just don't much like it. Fir loves the new kitchen wood range so much he always wants to cook on it. We have a guest weekend and I am hoping in this heat they are spared the delight of being shown how well it works:D. I think he is seeing it as a sort of indoor BBQ.

Excellent result, do you also leave visible marks on the plates when washing up and creases (in the wrong places) all over the ironing? ;)

I've just been told my job will disappear soon.
Buying my first home 12 months ago was brilliantly timed then.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

    Sorry to hear that lemonjelly.
Mortgage-wise I guess you're relatively well placed to ride out the storm? Will you get any kind of redundancy package?

Sending you best wishes and vibes.

Tricky one, it must feel like a biggie but then again loads of people change their job every day so it is not as if you will never work again - plus you are hardly enamoured with your current job so perhaps it is more of a silver lining than a cloud?

I don't know what mortgage deal you are on but one thing to think about is avoiding coming off a low rate 'introductory rate' and not being able to remortgage due to a change in circumstances and being forced on to a much higher svr, so it might be worth remortgaging just before redundancy for example.

Also, you have spare rooms right? Houseshare/ lodger to offset some costs seems a good idea.

I am meant to me making almond pastry then a tart. I am sitting down pretty much staring at the wall. :(. I'm not sure sleeping isn't better than this.

Don't they ask about your job before lending?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
