H, I would have thought minor delay. You may be able to ring them in advance to let them know you're going t make the transaction to avoid this.
I work for a bank and the point that we get arsey can vary a lot depending on the circumstances, location, what's being purchased etc.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Today was a real money saving day - sort of. Finally got round to sorting out the mess that is Sky Tv with BT phone with Virgin broadband. Transferring the lot to Virgin. I think the gain is that we gain new equipment as well as saving some money, our Sky boxes are failing rapidly.
Also moved our home insurance, renewal quote was £950! Gone elsewhere for £333.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks, I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say, hopefully it should be smooth enough.
As I say, just didn't know if there was actually a transaction limit with debit cards, or just a point at which they make further enquiries.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Not half as sad as I am!
Even by my jaded standards that would likely be a good night.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Or an amount beyond which one's bank may get arsey about it?
AML doesn't apply to a debit card transaction any more than any other sort of non-cash transaction. TBH the bank is most likely to be concerned that it's a fraudulent transaction than about money laundering.
If the money is already in your bank account and not been deemed to be suspicious then AML concerns have already been met.
There would potentially be a problem if you were doing something like putting fifty grand in cash into the bank and then using that in a single large transaction. I'd definitely be calling the AML Officer about that!
Whilst it is your money to spend as you see fit, to reduce the chance of a 'potential fraud' flag being triggered, I'd call the bank to let them know what's going on before hand.
If it's a large transaction could you use a credit card to increase your consumer protection rights?0 -

Then there is me who gets nervous about the bank getting eeky about a £150 payment.....or even a £50 one.
I am so OCD about problems when eating out or paying for fuel, that I make sure I have the equivalent cash sum in my purse as a just in case measure...drives the boys mad with my stressing. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
