Isn't there a friend with a double cab or van who can help? It's a shame you're the other end of the country. It might have gone in mine.
If I was closer (and not in Austria for the next 16 days) I'd have either taken the Yeti or one of the gear vans, as it should have gone in OH's car, as long as it's not a corner unit.💙💛 💔0 -

When I am driving again I will visit . As you know I do spontaneous dropping in. I will try not to spill anything:o0 -

You need to come visit chez Nikkster... then you'll see a sofa to be embarrassed about! Seriously, yours looked fine to me (until I threw my coffee over it).
I have to apologise about the state of my whole house (well, not about the front door any more). But hey, it's mine (or 39% is anyway).

When I needed a sofa, the local auction house was only a decent walk away...or so I and a mate thought.
So we go down; find a sofa; pay for it; and start to cart it back.
We hadn't factored in so much hill, so stopped and sat down naturally on the sofa for a rest (a few times).
You get some strange looks from passers by when you are sat down on your *own* sofa. So what if it isn't in the house?! :rotfl:0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »Well, yeah, the coffee didn't help - but I wasn't worried about that because I'd seen (when I'd removed the covers) that others had done this in previous years...that's when I decided it was vile. Also, when moving it about a little bit the materials "come away" as if brittle with age.
It did its job, I chose poorly, it's going (once I've got a saw). In the meantime it'll stand upright in the living room while I strip off the material and see what's underneath. Keeping the cushions (ideal for people with sleeping bags maybe?).
39% is a massive achievement! You've hardly had it any time at all! By the time you're my age you'll be owning 100% of a flash house I bet
Well, if it's not sorted by the time I darken your doors again, reminds me and I'll bring my saw. And a claw hammer.
When I bought, I was at 30%. Lucky I could stretch that far as I'm don't think I could have borrowed much more than that (definitely want intending to borrow so much).PasturesNew wrote: »Or even one that'd accept a gym membership in good humour and go religiously0 -
Today Mr Spirit suggested we grow pleached fruit trees against the new fence our neighbours erected to replace the old virginia creeper covered one. it is a good fence but a bit utilitarian and we knowthey would be disappointed if we grew another VC over it.
i think I need to talk to te NP expert on pleaching. OH is of a careful disposition so if he takes charge the trees have a chance of being a success, I have a more slapdash approach in the garden .0 -

Why don't you both come and see mine? No substitute for having a look..
( agree with on though, I'm no expert, but it is fun. I don't think you need to be too careful either. I've made a few mistakes. They are trees, they recover given time. and grow back.. I was upset at first but have grown to love the imperfections more than where its perfect tbh. It says something real and happy ). The most important bit really is choosing the right trees to go with each other. Mine good do with a little tidy up now, so its on the list, but I'm going to see if I can fuss with water shoots less this year. I get a bit obsessed.

Thanks, W would love seeing them. I am really nervous as it seems like proper gardening where you need ability, flair and orgnisation skills. I was no gardener before and my stroke has notimproved things.
On another topic, today I steam cleaned anumber of grubby areas that were long overdue. This included the skirting behind the dog bed which is under the stairs. i was down on my hands and knees but that was too difficult so I sat down on the floor and then was stuck .I could not lever myself up or support myself getting back on to my hands and knees, as my left arm is too weak and left hand too curly.
I had to shout for help. Oh rescued me but only after laughing at my expense. I need to recognise my limitations.0 -
Limitations? What are those?
I'm another one who doesn't abide by my limitations....last weekend, went out to the pub with Josh and needed to go to the loo. Off I popped, did my business and then realised (after attempting it about 5 times), that I was unable to get off the blooming toilet and upright (and no, I had not been drinking, I was on cordial all night as weigh in was the following morning).
With a final, herculean effort, I finally got upright on the 6th attempt, using the wall, toilet roll holder and anything else I could grab at, to get me there....there was absolutely no way I was going to holler for help with my knickers around my blooming ankles!
And all because I didn't stick within my limits......We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
