That is my experience too. Evidently you and Doozergirl and I all live in nice places.

Or do not notice it happening around you.

I certainly saw it when I lived not far from you Lydia.

We have fly screens over here, like those things you see on poor people's doors on films set in the South of the US. They are fricking awesome.

You can have windows and doors open and the flies can't get in.

The other cool thing is that they slide out of the frame quite easily so as a teenager you can sneak in and out of the house without opening a window or door.

    Fly screens are amazing indeed.

Got Alan, Chatty Man, on - and he's got Lee Mack in the chair. Alan asked him "what's the weirdest bit of trivia you've ever heard?" and Lee said "All sons will grow to be taller than their mums". He said there would be some unusual/rare exceptions, but, unless you're the mother of a dwarf it would appear to work. He asked the audience if they had a son shorter than them and nobody did have one.

Generally, each generation is taller than the last, so the rough expectation is that boys will be 2 inches taller than the average of their mum and dad and girls 2 inches shorter. Given that women rarely marry someone much shorter than them it should work out.
We have a problem in the house. Or rather I do.

Bugs are biting me. I don't know what sort of bugs. Only I am getting bitten, but I am being eaten alive. The animals have good quality spot ons for stuff and I've checked and they have no passengers.

I have even checked for ( gulp) bed bugs. No sign of them. The bites are all over my body ( not face though) and its getting silly. Its bites though, not a rash.

I had that problem once. You need to narrow down which room it is in. If you wake up bitten it is your bedroom. Spray that fly killer for about 20 seconds and leave the room closed for an hour.

PN perhaps you are not looking in the best place for your quotes? perhaps it is worth looking for a man and van in your local paper or on cards in newsagent/diy shop. I know you need 2 people but I bet they might have a mate who would help them out rather than turning it into a small removal job.
    I think....

We might suggest to DKs that if they don't work hard at school they will end up in a low paid repetitive job, hopefully we don't do it in front of people working in such jobs. I always apologise if I am on a phone call at checkout or if my phone rings.

Or a delivery driver who gets to take the van home on the weekend. Or a tradie who has a van. Someone has a van on the driveway on the weekend, especially a branded one.

Over here, everyone knows someone with a trailer.

Sales assistants in "posh shops" can be sn0tty. A young solicitor I knew was, some years ago, shuffling round a posh shop and was approached by the sales assistant, who snottily informed her that she should be looking at the sale rail..... she felt able to judge somebody's income/worth/values on appearance (walking boots, rucksack and big jumper).

I had this experience in a top designer's shop in York. I left without spending anything, their loss. They've now closed down which is not surprising if they treated everyone like that.
Spend less now, work less later.

Hate to remind you, but you're not the one closest to being a teenager any more!
Have you nailed yours to the windows yet? ;)

We had the snooty experience in Prezzo and haven't been back since (I don't think they liked the wheelchair and hid us away at the back and were very erm, eek when taking our order).

However, mum and dad took me to the poshest hotel/restaurant in town for my birthday and when I say posh, it is very very posh with silver service the whole lot.....they were absolutely lovely and no snooty experience from the staff was had at all. The food was blooming good too, it was so nice, they even enticed me to eat something with pea in it, not once but twice!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Just phoned the closest firm, on checkatrade, £75. He said they have to pay £33 tipping charge and it'd be £40 for their labour. So he said £75 for the job.

I'll end up sucking up the £50 charge it looks like.

.... I do dislike furniture you know...

I wonder how hard it'd be for me to rip this sofa open and cut it into 8 pieces with a (newly bought) axe.

Inflatable furniture....both retro, and yet the future? :)

[Don't tell our new puppy though; we'd be sat on a pile of plastic mats within minutes!]
