I've scanned it to look for her/anybody that looks vaguely like "our lot" and can't spot them....

The boy at the end of the foreground table acts a bit like 'your lot'?

There were fireworks being let off nearby at 1AM. Somebody celebrating the election result, maybe?

    Must have been Andrew Marr.

On VE day parents were 4 &5, doubt they would remember much.

Would be more interesting to find out what grandparents were doing, but that will be one of the questions that was never asked til it was too late. Were those serving in the forces home?

Too late to ask my mum what she was doing on VE day. She was 15, and at an English boarding school that had been evacuated to Wales.

Will try to ask my dad what he was doing. Something with radar equipment in the naval base at Portsmouth, I imagine, having been there for several months by that point, if my rather vague grasp of "what he did in the War" is correct. He was 18.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I just spotted myself on the local news. Luckily I was in the background and it was from behind so no one would notice me unless they knew where to look (where's wally?).

After staying up a lot of last night I am having an undemanding and relaxing evening tonight. I have been to the excellent chip shop down the road and am now eating pie and chips, while happily contemplating the fact that Y12 are now on study leave so for the first weekend in ages I have NO MARKING until at least Monday. :D

I did myself no favours by keeping an eye on the election results through the night, I have had an undemanding day and have just heard Ohs taxi pull up so I will exert myself and make him mint tea.
