MSE News: EE unveils portable smartphone chargers to replace 'Orange Wednesdays'

Contradiction, the EE website says that the replacement fee is £20.
It also says that a chargeable call or text must have been made in the last 3 months, presumably ruling out tablet customers.

my first tx at 8.30 this morning got no reply, I sent another at 11.30 that one worked ,but at 35p down my whole week has been ruined;)0

I got one today.
I had been hoping that it would include a phone cable too, but it didn't.
Still, 35p is a reasonable outlay...0 -
Got to Brent Cross 17:00.
Queue was about four people.
Person in front of me got THREE!
Battery was empty, so it's on charger.
As it turns out, the micro USB is the same as my Lenovo lead, so using the white lead I use for the tablet and the phone.
It's a torch as well!
Once the free Huawei tablet turns up, I'll have a pretty full complement of EE toys. Any free T-shirts going for free?
have you already got the the oven gloves then?:rotfl:0 -
Got my power bar for phone today and was able to obtain one for my iPad as well by swapping ipad sim into iPhone and texting from there as ipad wouldn't send to 365 due to the number not being compatible with iMessage. Got 2nd code no problem. Hope this helps!😀0

bb cust (and payg, but no credit so not trying that one), received text pretty promptly, will be going to shop some time later this week(end) to get PAC code, wondering if I'll get weird looks (:0

Point 2.3 A Power Bar is made available to you on a free to hire basis, under the terms of this agreement, for a maximum of 18 months. After 18 months, the Power Bar must be returned to EE and the Service will end.0

If you read the T&C You don't actually own it; you're renting it for 18 months, after which you have to hand it back to EE or pay for it. Currently you would pay £5 to keep it, but i guess amount will be more in 18 months time.
You also have to pay £20 if you lose it.

MSE does mention its a hire agreement in its original post.0 -
Do you really think EE will ask everyone to return them in 18 months time so they can stockpile worn out and useless chargers? It would cost them more than they'll be worth to dispose of them. The whole "free to hire" thing is just a means to prevent people from putting them on ebay.0

I texted EE yesterday on both a contract phone and PAYGo phone but the reply came back on both, 'Sorry, we can't find you on the EE system. Please can you resend JOIN and your landline to 60005' ... or visit ee website. Funny how I've received sales texts from EE earlier this week on both phones and yet they can't find me on their system!! And why ask for my landline? I feel I am being scammed somehow (by EE, not MSE)0
