If I read the t&c's correctly. Clause 2 - free hire for 18 months and then return it or pay for it (currently £5). Seems strange ?.
You did read correctly. This looks like a rental agreement to me. I'll be keeping well clear, especially when similar chargers are around £5-£10 with no T's&C's attached!

Yes - I spotted that (in fact that's why I joined the forum, to warn people!) I also am awaiting my code... which has yet to come... Have tried twice (so will probably cost me 70p...)
I wonder how many people will get them, lose them and get 'fined' a fiver in 18 months...?0 -
Got my 5 mins after my posting above - cheers0

It's the same deal with EETV, which is a NOW!TV style box, but with 1TB hard disk.

The legal bit
EE TV: Different minimum terms apply. 18-month minimum contract length. Subject to credit check.
...... The set-top box is provided to you on free hire and you’ll need to return the box at the end of the agreement, otherwise we'll charge you and lock certain services.
The worry is them losing the EETV when I eventually return it.
They really need to send a return package like Virgin do for their kit. If I just post it using Royal Mail, I fear it will just disappear without a trace. They are talking about £300! Or was it £360?
For the Power Bar, how do you return it after 18 months?
Do they register it against your EE account?
This would mean the shop needs to log on and de-register you when you return it.
They don't seem to recognise my EE landline number, because they set it up badly, so all orders fail first time, and need to be done manually. I just know that the shop will try to log into my account, and the computer will say no such account, and then the damned system will start charging me from month 19, debiting my account it doesn't recognise!0 -
mse - However technically this is a hire agreement and if you leave EE, you will have to give the power bar back or you'll be charged a £5 fee.0
