did the landlord hire the company ? if he stopped paying , it was probably that his contract was up or he was P off with them , if they have not got the landlords permission , they cannot operate.

stop worrying about bits of permits , unless the notice on the wall said "permits HAVE to be displayed in your front window etc, "

I am not sure what the sign on the wall says as we had permits so I never bothered to read it. I also just cycle when I work there so.

Unfortunately OUR landlord is a middle man. He is on lease for the premises a group of us are in and he was paying the management above for the parking spaces who is leasing out the premises to him. So I guess the management above hires the parking management company. OUR landlord is nasty and he doesn't take much responsibilities even though we are never late to pay the high rent. We assume that he didn't tell us about the parking space situation because some of us might start leaving the premises because of it. But we found out in the end anyway because of the tickets despite the permit on display. :(

    p.s.

I am away for the next two days so I will go there on Wednesday and look at the sign and also try and find the parking control company there.
  • IF your lease/rent is inclusive of parking , send him the invoices ,
  • IF your lease/rent is inclusive of parking , send him the invoices ,

We tried it but there is nothing to prove it was inclusive and when we complained to him, he said the parking spaces were complimentary but now that the price has gone up he is not longer willing to provide the complimentary parking spaces. That was the end. We are not in very strong position unfortunately... Everyone has pretty much given up fighting against him and just trying to get on with our own thing there.

I appreciate your help so much though. Great to know that whilst some people try to make your life harder, some others are kind enough to help. Thank you so much. I feel better.
  • so all the staff are parking illegally now?

time to give your landlord a kick up the bum , has your boss not checked the lease regarding parking?

if no parking available , then the signs come down , or you move on

The thing is that the premises we are in is a unit with around 10 rooms all rented out by our landlord. Most of them produce or make music etc.

A friend of mine and I on the other hand are building a recording/rehearsal studio business ourselves there. So we don't have a boss and we've been working hard for the past 6years or so but not yet at the stage where we are generating enough profits to feed us both so I work elsewhere etc. My friend and I both cycle there. Other guys renting out other rooms have started either take public transports or cycle.

And yes, we have been looking for other premises we can move to but have not found anywhere suitable. It is very tricky as we don't have a big funding/budget. We work hard and just want to get to the stage where we are generating enough profits for just 2 of us to start with and see if we can actually save up to afford to buy a property for ourselves to run the business there. Tricky and risky situation we are in we know but we are trying and so far very slow but our clientele is growing and getting steady so we think a couple of years more of hard work and we might be able to get business loan etc to move.

Does YOUR contract/lease (with YOUR landlord) mention parking at all? If it does, what does it say?

If it mentions parking (complimentary or otherwise) then he can't unilaterally remove that feature of the lease ... he needs the agreement of his lessees. As such, if he's done this and you receive PCNs, then he is liable for them (IMHO).
