  • Offered SIM card at fixed/capped price £10 per month by Virgin Media 'valued customer crap' anyhow took up the offer but hardly used it cancelled 2 months later final bill for .0.79p in august end of paper bills. My fault I know I should have checked bank statements thoroughly, I ususally do but I've been ill and took my eye of the ball found out when checking this months statement that I 've been charged £210 for this card for calls made. going back through statements they've restarted the cancelled DD IN oCTOBER and been taking money for phone calls I haven't made to the value of £788 with abnother £219 to be added for April and May. They offered me £275 supposedly 50% of what i paid but they want the £219 paying
    I cancelled this sim. It was a fixed/capped price of £10 per month. they say they have been posting my bill electronically to my email address when asked what that was wasn't my address Manager got shirtytold me I had to take the offer as he wouldn't be speaking to me again and put the phone down
    HELP WHAT DO i do.

    If they reinstated the direct debit after you cancelled it you should report this to your bank and ask them to refund you the money which has been taken fraudulently. The bank will then clawback the money from Virgin.

    Also write in to Virgin and complain about this - if you cancelled the SIM, then maybe they reissued the phone number to another customer, and have been mistakenly charging you for their calls.

    But get something down in writing (and keep copies), as this could escalate!
  • :confused: bank says my contract with Virgin who can reinstate DD up to 7 years not the bank. Dont need my consent as already given in original mandate. Nothing to do with them.!!!!!!! Otelo gave advice but they are a toothless tiger really, they cant do anything until 3 months have gone and then they can only suggest that I be given my money back. I've sent letters to Virgin complaints division recorded delivery, no answer. The new chief executive same again and Richard Branson at his home address. nada
    It seems they are just not going to talk to me. Ive thought of small claims court if nothing doing in the next couple of weeks but I've a feeling I'm over the cash limit for that and I cant afford to spend any more money

    The direct debit guarantee says:
    You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society

    So once cancelled, how can your bank now tell you the merchant is allowed to reinstate it?

    It also says:
    If an error is made by the merchant or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid

    Go back to your Bank, point out when you cancelled the direct debit and ask them to escalate this.

    :mad: :mad: :mad: :confused: I cancelled it via virgin. They did for me!!! it was part of my media package and they said that if I tried to cancel it myself it would cause problems. Stimied eh!!!!. as I said paper bills stopped once last payment paid no more bills until I checked statement properly. They said they'd sent bills to email but wrong email.
    It's the not getting in touch that's worrying me. I dont want it to go on and on. I want action, now, but nobody is doing anything. I cant make them reply. Is it 'ignore me and I'll go away' approach to business.

    My contract started on 2nd April and I have to send in my 6th bill to CPW to get the cashback. Will my 6th bill be in September or October? Also when will I have to call Virgin to cancel to ensure the contract only lasts 6 months?

    If you don't know the answers to those questions why did you take out the contract!? I say that as a lesson to the many who rush in without doing their research.

    I was just trying to have it confirmed by someone who had experience with these 6 month deals. I thought helping each other was what this forum is about.

    Maybe you think we should spend our time answering the numerous repeat questions endlessly rather than you spending yours actually making sure you bother to read the many contributions already made. If you don't know how to swim don't dive in the deep and and then ask the lifeguard if it's safe; read the signs! After all, it's your money at risk - not ours!
