I really love the old look, I appreciate so much more now it's back!!! The other one gave me a headache with all the white, it hurt my eyes to look at. What a shame! I am just really hoping they take the criticism on board and hugely improve the new look before inflicting it upon us again!0

HI folks
The 'you can switch back' for a short while - is not correct. You can switch back and we've no plans to switch off the old style. Though of course as we hope in time virtually no one is using it we will switch it off then.
As for "you wont win people around by saying people just like change". I am not trying to win anyone around. I am aware lots of people don't like it whether due to change resistence or genuine preference. Yet we have to do what we believe is right for the forum - and I believe this is correct - and the buck stops with me.
Yet the key point is - if you're a registered member you can choose for yourself.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I think the new layout is too white/bright and hard on the eyes. Having said that, I do agree that a more mobile friendly format is needed - it was unusable on my last phone.
And I absolutely do not believe that 55% of people will leave rather than use it - I strongly suspect that's people just shooting their mouths off and getting carried away in the heat of the moment. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Well right or wrong, intended or not, that is the impression that most people got this afternoon. That very shortly they would have no choice.
Hence I think a large part of the consternation.
I remember very well the switch to this current version, and the dislike at the time, with various mitigating strategies such a less bright versions, and the ability to use the older style.
If we can do that again that would be great, but that is not the impression people got earlier.
And the new one certainly still needs significant work before it can or should be the default in my opinion.
EDIT: Although I do appreciate the pressure and need to change, and that it can't be left for ever.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

That is great then and I hope over time the new format becomes good and I cannot resist switching over. Thanks for posting Martin.0 -
The forum is broke. We need to make it better for mobile devices or we risk the fact google will no longer list it on mobile and we want people to have access to it whatever the medium
People asked YEARS AGO about a mobile version, the clue is the word version, as oppose to a complete replacement....Now its broke.. WELL DONE!We've been testing this with a large panel of users for many months, this isn't just being sprung from nowhwere - and we asked for volunteers. Yet of course we want your feedback to make the new one more comfortable and better for you to use, but 'scrap it' doesn't help.
In time we hope you will like the new forum design - if not you can use the old one.
So am I free to CONTINUE to use the old one, as your team (those you employ) say the old one is only temporarily available until we are all forced into this new, comfortable, user UNfriendly Yahoo Chat version that we will all warm to?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I really couldn't care less who stays or goes. The simple fact is that most people will get used it and will forget about the old green version. Its been proved time and time again that is what happens when changes like this happen.

Sorry but thems the truths!!
No. You are simply giving us your opinions, like the rest of us are.
Many sites have suffered significant losses in user numbers as a result of changing layouts. People tend to be particularly annoyed when they end up with a less user-friendly interface, as in this case.
What MSE Towers don't seem to have taken on board is that websites (or subsets of sites) are often set up for very different purposes, requiring different user interfaces.
The forum is not used by users in the same way that the main site is.0 -

As you've been blunt with us above, I hope you don't mind me being the same with you. We will be rolling out the new forum regardless of this poll (though not today that was a glitch). And I want to make a few points.
1. Registered forum members will have the option of switching back if they choose. So if you don't like it you don't have to use it.
2. The forum everyone is saying "dont change from" - that you really like is the redesign of - is one that when we first test it 90%+ people hated. In fact some of the comments and abuse to my team above are a virtual mirror image of the last time. Much of this is that people don't want change. Yet we have to continue to improve the forum and we believe this is better. This won't be the last time either.

That seems fair enough as long as the option to stay on the old format is there0
