I am so glad they have changed it back.
It was too bright, completely non - inclusive for dyslexics and those with Mears-Irlen (aka visual stress), there was a loss of functionality, and basic neatness (alignment, fonts) had not been checked.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

well, the entire forum tested it and found it wanting. Back to the drawing board folks. Not so much white next time. No one dislikes change for the sake of it, but dear lord that was painful. It was buggy, the avatars were gone meaning a big part of the recognition of posters was gone and stuff just didn't work properly on larger screens.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

The new forum design.
I know i'm getting old and maybe a bit befuddled, but what's changed ?
It's changed back now for most people Sam. They were trying a new style out and it was suppose to go to a limited number of people for them to test it but in error everyone on at the time got changed to the new look, an error they've now corrected.
It was terrible Sam, it was a blindingly bright white background all over, very stark with a small font. It physically made me and others feel ill with headaches, feelings of nausea etc and we only had it on for about 30 minutes before I managed to change it back to the old style. Mine has just changed back to old format - thankfully.
In the process - I had made a post on a popular thread and saw it post up okay. I went back to that thread after my format changed back and saw that posts I had read on that thread that were made this afternoon had vanished and there was nothing printed in between 1235pm and 4.03pm (?) - though I know very well there were posts up there, because I'd read them.0 -

Kind of doesn't surprise me I guess. MSE has always been a bit backwards in going forwards!! Looks like it will be stuck in the internet dark ages for a while yet.0 -

I don't understand the people saying it makes them feel sick and dizzy? This is pretty much the modern look and feel of many websites! Do you not use other websites? Just look at eBay and Amazon for example. All the other forums I use regularly changed to similar styles long ago.
Genuine concerns or not, the change will be permanent at some point. Whether its now or later, the change will happen. The old green style is like something out of the 90's and is not the image a modern growing business will want to keep for much longer.
It may be THEIR business - but its OUR forum. We can all just vote with our feet and then where would MSE be?;)
Any business that ignores its customers' requirements doesn't stay in business for long. The customer is always right.0
