The problem with this is that we can't just look at spam, we'd have to look at ALL posts that come in.
There is, unfortunately. If we were to hold all posts for approval before they went out, filtered out the spam and posted the rest, we would be liable for any information in those published posts. If one of those posts were 'This XYZ company is breaking the law' and we approved that to be published on our site, we could be in trouble. Obviously we want to avoid legal dealings as much as we can.
Fair enough for people that post in the middle of the night but for those that use the forum during the day and evening (which is when we have our biggest traffic peaks) it would be frustrating to have to wait potentially hours to get your answer. It would eventually deter people from joining. As for the spam, we are working on it.0 -

Spammers do remain as members. Their posts are deleted but their threads and names are included in the site's stats which makes them unreliable.
If the forum makes a loss then Moneysupermarket Group plc may have decided to invest in the profitable parts of the website.
Martin Lewis should apologise to fermi for the state of the credit card board.0 -

reported and I've cleared the spam on Loans but posting elsewhere as I speak.0 -
it seems the methods they put in have clearly not worked....again.
At time of posting there have been 8 new users join since midnight. Of those eight, six of them are spammers!!
All reported but when they'll be removed is anybody's guess.0 -
MSE includes spammers in its stats which it uses to promote its website. It has a commercial interest in bumping up its supposed member and activity numbers.
From Megan's post yesterday, spam is not a priority, investment is going elsewhere. BGs should together agree for x number of days they will down tools and not delete spam ans see what happens. Complaint with ASA on MSE's marketing claims.

I struggle to see MSE Towers legal arguments its wrong for MSE to declare something as spam but ok for 6 or 7 members to hit the SPAM button ?
MSE Towers seem to think that the Forum is an immediate first choice of anyone who has a problem and also that once posted the problem is instantly solved. I think that the problems are often days, weeks old and that a delay of an hour or two while posts are checked for Spam is quite acceptable.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
loads of 'black magic' spam on credit cards just now.
This sort of spam is not difficult to stop and block at source.
This has been going on for months - either someone is not doing their job in the coding side, or this is not being taken seriously.0 -
