over 100 spam posts from 3 new members in less than half an hour, yes you would think prevention would be better than cure but hey its MSE Towers we are talking about.......:whistle:0

Even more still being posted across the boards, I agree its becoming a joke. I've given up visiting the forums as much as I used to, popped in today to see pages and pages of spam.
Couple of years ago it was kitchens, but compared to this.... The forum admins must do something.0 -
Would it be possible to implement some sort of filter based on language, or character set used in a post. I've done this to block Russian character set emails from my inbox.
Today's spam flood appears to be in Korean
We should block all posts that don't use the standard Latin character set.0 -
~300 spambot threads so far today on just my boards. God only knows what the complete total is/was across the forum.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

You shouldn't have to be doing that anyway. As far as I'm concerned the button is there to assist the forum team deal with spam, not to replace them or do their job for them.
I would just report the user as a spammer via email and move on, assuming that you can use you regular boards still. Might prompt the powers that be to invest in a better solution...
Also remember that a BG for a board can delete spam on their boards - with a bit of faff - without the button, so if they are online or are online regularly, maybe a PM to them. At least in my case I wouldn't mind anyway....Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I was a moderator on a large vBulletin forum years ago and I had the ability to ban a user and delete all their posts in one go with just a few clicks.
Could MSE not provide this ability to long term respectable moderators?0
