Why don't you just move out - you are 20 and in FT employment, no excuses for you just accepting this.

Of course it isn't your fault but surely as an adult you now need to take control?
  • Post redirection is done online. No phone calls or documentarion necessary. Just need a bank card registered at the address you are at now - nothing needed for the new Destination. And even if a card was put through, she wouldn't be able to do anything about it by then.

Whilst you're at it, might be a plan to change codes on your phone and, as previously suggested, switch to online banking.

    Thanks all for replies.

Finally got somewhere and application has been sent off, by next week I shall be collecting my post :j With all of those wondering why I never brought it up, my mum can be the nicest person ever during the day, during the night after a drink it's horrible. It's treading on eggshells all the time with her, I'd have nowhere to stay in all honesty, it's a worse experience than I let it on to be. Renting is an option but I'm putting money in the bank first, not going to let on to something I can't afford.

For all of those who have been in the same situation saying I won't ever forget etc, all my memories/emotions to my mum have been poisoned and tarnished, there is no going back.

When you get your own place (consider becoming a lodger or a room in a house), do not under any circumstances allow your mother to have a key. Do not let her have it even for an hour or two - it will be returned having been copied.

You should also make a habit of turning your phone to silent after around tea-time.

She will loathe that you are not within reach. Be prepared for fireworks.

    Good luck!
