If the lights were split in to two and one side remained red whilst a green arrow came on then that would be an offence.
Looks like a bit of a shambles this.
That doesn't sound right at all. Failing to obey a red light would be failing to obey a red light. The offence committed is the same offence whether there is one lane or two. If you go forward when the light for your lane is on red then you have ignored a red light. It has nothing to do with the green light. UNLESS you were in the wrong lane. Eg you were in the lane to go right, and then went straight on, disobeying the green arrow signal. What will your verse be?

There is no specific offence of failing to follow a green arrow I can find (corrections ?).
Only in relation to motorway signs
Contravention code 32b failing to drive in direction indicated by blue arrow could apply but it would need a TRO limiting the direction vehicles can travel
and fail to comply with Red/green arrow lane closure flashing light signals
Is for motorway lane offences.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

Thats why i asked the offence was, if it makes no mention of a traffic light offence then it is as irrelevant as a shoplifting allegation from his school days.
It is disobeying a traffic signal, which apparently the OP has on the paperwork (failing to follow green arrow instruction).
Where there are green arrows, it is an offence to cross the stop line except in the direction of the arrow - s.36(f), Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002.0 -
There is also a big white turn right arrow painted on the road!
Also clear on street view is that when the turn right light is green for traffic the pedestrian crossing man is green where the OP would have turned to the left. Perhaps the Police were there because there have been incidents in the past with cars driving across the crossing when the pedestrian crossing man was green0 -
I cant figure out how you cant know how that isn't a no left turn. white sign on the road, blue circle arrow and a green arrow is adequate enough for me to say I have to turn right.0

Agreed, but one should not be relying on Google images when driving a vehicle.Cornucopia wrote: »It's very difficult to see on Google, and in one frame, it looks broken.

Flippin Eck, A blue circle with a right arrow, a green light with a right arrow, a big right arrow painted on the road, the shape of the junction making it very difficult to turn left and for good measure, another blue arrow across the junction and you don't see what you have done wrong???
This is basic highway code stuff, you are one of the people that would be better dealt with by offering a course. Turning left there looks a very dangerous manoeuvre, joining a fast flowing 3 lane arterial road into central London via a slip road going off it. No wonder the blue arrow and green arrowed light are so specific about the direction traffic should follow. If I recall correctly there is a warning sign of no access to A13 before the underpass.
I think 3 points and £100 is a very light award considering the carnage you could have caused. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings
